The Power Macintosh 8100 (2021)

The computer I lusted for since 1994 was finally mine, and it was even the 100 MHz AV version! Though non-functional, I built an entire video around it anyway because I was so excited about having one. I was more interested in fixing Wikipedia and getting rid of this 'Mandela Effect' making people believe there was an AV version of the 8100/110. Though some viewers argued, no one was able to provide evidence of an 8100/110AV. Viewer 'spectremarty' from YouTube fixed Wikipedia once-and-for-all, while I sat defeated, sipping Victory Gin.

There was a segment concerning Jack McHenry missing in the final upload to YouTube, and I tacked it on the next video (The Macintosh). This version has the missing segment intact. The best laugh for me in the video is Gary Davidian making fun of the competing team's "Hurricane: Prepare to be blown away!" catch-phrase, when those same members later came up with the "TNT" board. Most fun for me was integrating Orwell's 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' into the video.

Fun Facts!

For anyone curious, the metal spring attached to the inside of the case is standard according to other 8100 owners.

Lately, Keith Harper (also a supporter here) has been very helpful trying to troubleshoot the machine and providing a work-around to replace the power supply with a standard ATX power supply. The 8100 may yet be brought back to life!

Great to hear that, Bill. Thanks! I'll touch again on 90's Apple in the next video and have the same random fun bits as in my previous videos. I trust you'll enjoy this one, too.

Thanks for appreciating the harp solo, Dante. I let him know! Thanks for the offer to help work on the collection. Obviously, getting everything working properly would take a little more than a lifetime. I can also appreciate seeing retro anomalies that I was barely aware of aside from the design. You are welcome to help, though I will need to get the next video done first. We can talk about arranging something then if you're still motivated at that point. :).

Your videos are spot on and laugh out loud funny no matter how many times I watch them. Having lived through the weird 90s Apple era (and hoping against hope that they'd make it out of the decade alive) it's so fun to relive all the awkward moments. Thank you!

Your son's juice harp solo was spot on, and the giggle sells it. Now that it's, you know... not the last Gowan show before Covid, would you want some help getting more of your collection in working order? I don't live mind-blowingly close (Cleveland), but I would love to get involved. I could also bring along my retro anomaly: a couple Corel Netwinder units from 1999 that I have running on solid state IDE drives.

Ha! It's still not great, but yes, I don't have as far to fall.

The new tesseract joke gets me every time. Prepare to be blown up. :P
