Our Life: Baxter DLC Build 1.6.5B π³ (PC, Mac, & Android)
Added 2022-12-22 19:00:03 +0000 UTCHooray! Another Baxter beta build is ready to go. And looks like there's some good times to be had, based on the screenshot preview.
Important Notes To Play the Beta:
- You access Baxter's Moments by clicking a yellow button on the righthand side of the Step 3 Moment selection screen. It's not a fully designed screen in this beta, it's got temporary assets
- Baxter's DLC begins in the Step 3 opening. You can play from the beginning of the story until that point or start a new file and use an option at the start of the beta to skip right to Step 3
- Save files from this beta won't work in other beta builds or the main game. You can load saves from the main game in the beta but you need to play Step 3 from the beginning to see the new content
New Content:
- The second Half of Baxter's version of Hang, that Moment is now complete
- The entirety of a new Moment- Sightseeing
- 45,000 new words overall
- A new cut-in CG, although it's still only a sketch right now
Alright, with two Moments and the Step 3 expansion scenes from the prior beta, we're starting to get a decent amount of Baxter content going. It's certainly interesting, very different from either of the other leads. I can think of a few things in this expansion that might end up surprising people, haha.

I grew to love Cove and Derek, but the anticipation for Baxter just kept growing in my mind. So far, not disappointed in the slightest. Also, a VERY big thank you giving Baxter more forwardness. After watching Derek literally breaking his back to make people happy and forcing Cove out of his comfort zone, it's nice to have a LI that can enjoy himself and go with the flow... even if he has to run away to do it.

2022-12-25 02:19:15 +0000 UTCHi Iβm not sure if Baxter is supposed to have an initiation level incorporated just yet but I noticed that if youβre crushing on Cove and choose high initiation for him, then Baxter seems to actually take the initiative (i.e grabbing MCβs wrist when trying their ice cream or speaking into their ear while hugging in Hang) however if youβre crushing on Cove, then in Sightseeing you no longer have the option to tell Baxter that he was your first crush. I went back and started step 3 with Fond comfort level with Cove and I could once again have MC tell Baxter he was MCβs first crush but he was no longer taking the initiative since there was no option to choose initiation level.

2022-12-24 07:46:13 +0000 UTCYeah, I've played through all other moments, and the only one that seemed to truly have changed was Boating. Late Shift was pretty new to me in that format since it was the first time I did it with a character who doesn't work yet, but the interactions felt like they could be there no matter the relationship with Baxter (though obviously because it was my first time doing it that way, I also may have not noticed). Maybe it will get added in later or something. I didn't try the Summer Ended part yet though, but that's because I don't want to touch it until I play through all the new moments, which is impossible as of now, obviously!

Anyway, I selected "and then Summer ended" and Baxter interaction is different if you played the DLC, honestly there's a small interaction between him and Cove when he ask the MC to visit him the day before he leave but I won't say what he told Cove because it should be read with your own eyes XD It's not that much but I thought it was a funny interaction and it made me question what Baxter have in mind, I think it only happens if you are dating though, I'm not sure. After that if you start the step 4 it only talk about Baxter as a friend you wanted to get close to, if you start the Cove Wedding DLC there's no mention of your Summer fling yet.

I'm not saying it's impossible that it's a glitch or bug but I think that if you tell him to get one and to share he will always get a ice cream sandwich. I did that choice too and it was never said he got a popsicle from what I remember. It's also true that I didn't got the same glitch most people got, I got only the glitch where Baxter was already with me and Cove despite he was still changing so I'm not sure about the other glitch since I noticed/got only one.

If you picked the one saying "buy one and I'll let you taste mine" he will buy a ice cream sandwich I think, but if you don't know what to answer about the choice or answer in a vague way Terri will tell him to get two and one of them is the cartoon ice cream along with the ice cream sandwich, if you tell him to get two before Terri does he will get a ice cream sandwich and a cartoon ice cream just like before. I'm saying this in case you made one of the choices that made him pick two ice cream instead that one since your comment doesn't mention which choice you made, but if you are sure that you didn't made a choice that would make him pick two ice cream then it's probably a bug even if that didn't happen to me, but there are some bugs that didn't happen to me but happened to other so it wouldn't be weird. For example the only bug I had was the one were Baxter was already with me and Cove despite he was still changing.

I LOVE HIM!!!!! ππππ i love cove so much but.. I think Baxter has made me feel a completely different way and despite the part about our relationship (made me heartbroken), I love Baxter with all my heart. I want to make him the happiest man on earth!!!!! (also, I just know Baxter's route is gonna make me sob- the way he talks about himself just as some stranger you'd be able to date but he knows you would forget about him after the summer.. like no my love π ill always remember you! don't treat yourself that way! you're not gonna be just some random memory to me!! you'll be my first love and the person I will think about when I see anything monochrome!! If you say Baxter has interesting taste, Ma laughs about it while Mom doesn't find it funny but in a later description it says; 'You joined in with Ma's laughter and Ma let it slide with a sigh. She did want your help, after all.' I feel like the second Ma above should be Mom?

2022-12-23 13:52:32 +0000 UTCDid you load a save file in Step 3 from a prior build? The flags needed for that reference to work properly might not have been in the build you used before, so they can't be referenced when continuing forward with Baxter's content now.

Late shift would be different for me this time around ANYWAY, since I've picked the option for the MC not to work yet on this playthrough, which means more time with Baxter to begin with. Never picked that option to begin with since I was waiting for Baxter's "route" to do it that way (same as with dancing with him in Step 2). But well, it would be better to experience it in full altered glory if relevant rather than it not referencing the recent events.

2022-12-23 06:10:40 +0000 UTCThis was so so GOOD... I'm beyond myself with happiness right now. Like, I can't even describe how happy this update made me! Not only the ending to Hang was very cool, but man, Sightseeing was such a wonderful thing. I said it already, but I'll repeat it once more - the back and forth between Baxter and my MC is something I live for. It's just so awesome. Honestly, the way this progresses... it manages to simultaneously be everything I expected it to be, but also so SO much more! I can't even begin to express just how happy it made me that the MC and Baxter could talk first crushes, and that he can actually be the MC's first crush. In my MC's case specifically, ever since that dance at the Cypress years ago. It made me so giddy to be able to actually "make it canon" in my playthrough, instead of it simply being a headcanon. And Baxter's reaction to that is the most cute and priceless thing I've ever seen. It also feels a bit surreal to hear Baxter talk about his hometown and first crush considering I'm also playing the demos to OL2... I'd even say it adds a new dimension to the whole thing and makes me appreciate the interactions even more! Now, onto the small issues I had - some continuity errors / small coding issues or bugs. Not a lot though! - I had a strange continuity error in early Hang that wasn't there in the previous build. Basically, my MC invites Baxter to his room, but then Baxter goes back to his condo to change and to let my MC have some privacy. My MC goes out and meets with Cove, asks him if he's seen Baxter yet and Cove says no, but then instead of the two going to fetch Baxter at his condo, suddenly Baxter's already with them and the whole segment gets skipped and they go to the beach. Previously that part played out as it should (and all of my choices were exactly the same + I have replayed from scratch both times). - Someone already mentionned it before, but I also got the continuity error where the MC tells Baxter at the ice-cream truck that he can take whatever he wants and try what the MC took too, but then Baxter says they have the same, despite picking different things. My MC had ice-cream sandwich and Baxter the cartoon character thing, if that's the issue. Worth mentionning than seconds later, when Baxter talks with Terri, he does have the thing he actually ordered back again. - If the MC talks to Baxter about future plans during Sightseeing, I had a small inconsistency. My MC plans to work full time, and the options I've picked is that he wants to do contract work and work online (since he wants to be a singer). But he tells Baxter "If nothing goes wrong, I'll find a good company." - working at a company was not one of the things I've picked. - (EDIT - I didn't notice this one before) In the new version of Hang, at the end, if the MC snuggles up to Baxter, I have another continuity issue. In this version of Hang, my MC was never able to go back to his home and get a shirt before going on the ice-cream hunt after the beach. And he wore trunks with no shirt. Then he also refused Baxter's shirt since he was not cold. But during that scene at the end, the narration says he could feel Baxter's heartbeat through his thin clothes. In this specific configuration, it would either be through no clothes at all, or we're missing a segment that would allow the MC to go get clothes like in the normal version of Hang. (EDIT 2 - I noticed that even later, and I'm actually a bit uncertain about this one) At the end of Hang, in the same scene as before, when the MC snuggles with Baxter, Baxter tells the MC they look good etc. It's a follow up to the MC feeling self-conscious about their body, which mine does. But after Baxter said his part and repeated the MC looks amazing, the answers are smiling back at him, saying "I won't forget it either", saying "I'm the one who feels lucky to have met you." and cuddling closer. I feel like the two answers where the MC actually says something are actually from a different dialogue? They sound a bit weird in this context? Maybe if the MC doesn't feel self-conscious Baxter says something else as a "prompt", and then both paths reunite on this answer while they should have reunited after, or something? I'm especially thinking that because of the not forgetting either, and really, the general tone of both answers. And that's it! As usual, I hope these help - I'll certainly replay this, so I may have more later on. And yet again, thank you for the wonderful update. I'll consider Baxter to be my Christmas gift this year - and it's a wonderful gift for sure. Honestly, Sightseeing is my new favorite Moment in the entire game, and that's no small feat considering just how much I love Serendipity! Oh, and a small question if you don't mind - are the "regular" Step 3 moments edited to take into account doing the Baxter moments / dating him, or not yet? Just so I know if it's worth for me to replay them.

Super looking forward to how this all plays out in Step 3 and 4. Onto practical feedback: In Sight seeing when Ma and Mom are asking MC to get details about Baxter the script repeats "Ma" instead of "Ma and Mom". I ran into a continuity issue with he Summer Soiree in Sightseeing. In the "prologue" it was established that we did meet at the Cypress 5 years ago but then during Sight seeing it didn't acknowledge that. I don't know if it's relevant but in that save file I attended with Derek. Oh I just remembered another bug/error. When theyβre running through the sprinklers it said that I wasnβt wearing a bathing suit even though I was.

Just had some continuity errors in the hangout scene (I chose cartoon icecream, Baxter chose icecream sandwich but when I offered to share he said we had chosen the same thing) but not sure if these scenes are going to get more passes before release anyway.

I'm new to being a patron and don't know where to report glitches/bugs/etc but I noticed in the ice cream truck scene in "Hang" if you get an ice cream sandwhich and tell Baxter to just get whatever ice cream he wants and you'll share some of your sandwhich with him, in the next scene when you offer him a bite his popscicle has turned into an ice cream sandwhich.
