[WOTD] Asagi redesign - Part 1: Concept

This will be the first part of the redesign process for Asagi. Just like I did with Alune's redesign, I will divide the content into 3 posts. In this first part, I will explain the changes I will make and show you some references.

To start, let's talk a bit about the original design.

Asagi is a very athletic girl, so I wanted her to be taller than the others, except for Erika and Jill.
But besides that, she is an elegant girl in her own way, so a long black hair mane reflects that elegance.

That said, it's an aspect of her personality that has yet to be explored, but Asagi values her long hair very much, which is why she doesn't cut it even though shorter hair might be more beneficial or less bothersome for exercising.
I plan to include a very important event for her regarding her hair, which will also involve the presence of an old friend.

Continuing with the topic of her hair, I will, of course, keep her long mane in the new design, but I want the front part to look longer and perhaps a bit messy, although I also want it to generally look straighter and looser.

For the front, I would like it to be something similar to this:

And as for her long and 'straight' hair, I mean it looks something like this:

Likewise, in the original design this is quite well achieved.

The shape of her eyes is similar to the shape of her aunt Erika's and her mother Zaira's eyes, and that will remain the same in the redesigns.

However, I am eager to change the color of her pupils. At the time, I didn't want Asagi to have very yellow eyes because it could make her look like a cat. But now I think I'll try giving her more yellow pupils, or maybe golden ones, similar to Zaira's eye color.

Being such an athletic girl, I want Asagi's body to be very toned, with a well-defined six-pack on her abdomen. Additionally, I will make her waist and thighs wider.

But for her arms, I would like them to look defined, but not too muscular.

And I think I could use Chun-Li to example here, as I would like Asagi's new design to have longer and more toned legs.

As for her breasts, I think I will keep the same size but modify them to have much less separation; in fact, I would like them to be quite close together and have an oval shape, in line with her physique.

Oh, Asagi also wears glasses in some parts of the story, and it is explained that she cannot see well from a distance. But I will change that, I will not keep the use of glasses in her new design or background, and if I ultimately decide to do so, I will explain in some dialogue that she uses contact lenses.

There won't be many changes in Asagi's story, personality, or background, but in the remake, thanks to the inclusion of new mechanics and many secondary characters, I will be able to create more important moments for Asagi, where her virtues as well as her flaws can be seen, which are few as Asagi suppresses them quite well.

Speaking of 'suppressing', in several occasions/scenes, it is hinted that Asagi has a deep fear, a result of a past trauma. I wonder if anyone has figured out what it is yet. In any case, that is part of her background and will be vital to the plot and mandatory events of the story.
As I said, Asagi at first glance seems perfect for everything, but the reality is that she hides her fears, insecurities, and anxieties deep down, so trying to discover something about it takes quite a bit of time.

But the most important thing is that her appearance and design reflect how energetic and positive she is. And while she is not a vain girl, she is pretty and elegant in her own way.

Esta será la primera parte del proceso de rediseño de Asagi. Al igual que hice con el rediseño de Alune, voy a dividir el contenido en 3 posts. En esta primera parte voy a explicar los cambios que haré y a mostrarles algunas referencias.

Para empezar, hablemos un poco del diseño original.

Asagi es una chica muy atlética, así que quería que tuviera una altura mayor a las demás, a excepción de Erika y Jill.
Pero además, ella es una chica elegante a su manera, por lo que una larga cabellera negra logra reflejar dicha elegancia.

Eso si, es un aspecto de su personalidad que aún no se ha explorado, pero Asagi aprecia mucho su cabello largo, por eso no se lo corta a pesar de que un cabello más corto podria ser más beneficioso o menos molesto para hacer ejercicio.
Tengo planes para incluir un evento muy importante para ella con respecto a su cabello, que involucrará también la presencia de una vieja amiga.

Siguiendo con la cuestión acerca de su cabello, por supuesto que mantendré una cabellera larga en el nuevo diseño, pero quiero que la parte de adelante (es decir, su flequillo) se vea más largo y tal vez un poco desordenado, aunque también quiero que en general se vea más lacio y suelto.

Para la parte delantera, me gustaría que fuera algo similar a esto:

Y en cuanto a su cabello largo y 'lacio', me refiero a que se vea algo así:

De igual manera, en el diseño original esto está bastante bien conseguido.

La forma de sus ojos es similar a la forma de los ojos de su tía Erika y su madre Zaira, y eso se mantendrá así en los rediseños.

Eso si, me urge mucho cambiar el color de sus pupilas. En su momento no quise que Asagi tenga ojos muy amarillos ya que podría parecer una especie de gato. Pero ahora creo que intentaré hacerle pupilas más amarillas, o tal vez doradas, similares al color de ojos de Zaira.

Al ser una chica tan atlética, quiero que el cuerpo de Asagi este muy tonificado, que se le marque el six-pack en su abdomen. Además de hacer que tenga una cintura y muslos más anchos.

Para los brazos de ella, me gustaría que se vieran definidos, pero no con demasiada musculatura.

Creo que podría poner como ejemplo a Chun-li aquí, ya que me gustaría que el nuevo diseño de Asagi tuviera piernas más largas y tonificadas.

En cuanto a sus pechos, creo que mantendré el mismo tamaño, pero los modificaré para que se vean con mucha menos separación, de hecho me gustaría que estén bastante juntos y tengan una forma ovalada, acorde a su físico.

Ah, Asagi también usa gafas en algunas partes de la historia, y se explica que ella no puede ver bien a lo lejos. Pero eso lo cambiaré, no conservaré el uso de gafas en su nuevo diseño o trasfondo, y si al final decido hacerlo, entonces explicaré en algún dialogo que ella usa lentes de contacto.

No habrá muchos cambios en la historia, personalidad o trasfondo de Asagi, pero en el remake, gracias a la inclusión de nuevas mecánicas y muchos personajes secundarios, podré crear más momentos importantes para Asagi, donde se puedan ver sus virtudes como también sus defectos, los cuales son pocos ya que Asagi los reprime bastante bien.

Hablando de 'reprimir', en varias ocasiones/escenas, se deja saber que Asagi padece un temor profundo, producto de un trauma del pasado. Me pregunto si alguien habrá descifrado ya de que se trata. De cualquier forma, eso forma parte de su trasfondo y será vital para la trama y eventos obligatorios de la historia.
Como digo, Asagi a simple vista parece una chica perfecta para todo, pero la realidad es que esconde sus temores, inseguridades y miedos en lo más profundo, por lo que tratar de descubrir algo acerca de ello requiere bastante tiempo.

Pero lo más importante es que su apariencia y diseño reflejen lo enérgica y positiva que es ella. Y si bien no es una chica vanidosa, es bonita y elegante a su manera.
