Under the Cursed Moon - CH - 63

With the mystery of the Dark Lady finally resolved and Ginny Weasley safely committed to St. Mungo's for treatment, Harry Potter knew it was time to leave. The British Ministry of Magic was already abuzz with rumors and speculation, and Harry had no intention of getting caught up in the political games that were sure to follow. He had done his part; now, it was time to return to the life he and his family had built far away from the chaos.

Gathering Hermione, Leah, and Teddy, Harry called a final meeting with their closest comrades—Neville, Luna, Dennis, the Weasley twins, and Professor McGonagall—at Grimmauld Place. As they sat in the dimly lit drawing room, Harry looked around the table, his emerald eyes reflecting a mix of nostalgia and relief.

"We did it," Harry said, his voice steady but tinged with emotion. "The war is over, and now it's time for us to go home."

Neville leaned forward, his brow furrowed. "Harry, are you sure about this? We could use you here. The Ministry still needs strong leadership to rebuild."

Hermione smiled softly, placing a hand on Neville’s. "We know, Neville, but Britain isn’t our home anymore. We have a life in America, and Teddy deserves some normalcy."

Fred and George exchanged glances before Fred spoke. "You always were one for the grand exits, mate. Just don’t forget to send us an owl now and then."

Harry grinned. "You’ll hear from us. Just... don’t tell anyone where we’ve gone. It's safer that way."

McGonagall, who had remained silent until now, nodded approvingly. "You have done more than enough, Harry. It is time for you to find peace. Hogwarts will always welcome you back, should you ever wish to return."

The meeting concluded with heartfelt goodbyes, lingering hugs, and promises to stay in touch. As the sun set over Scotland, the Potters packed their belongings discreetly, using magic to shrink down their possessions into small trunks.

That evening, they stood outside the cottage, gazing at the house that had been both a refuge and a burden. Leah looked at Harry, her eyes full of understanding. "Are you ready?"

Harry took one last look at the old Black family home and nodded. "Yes. Let's go."

With a whispered incantation, they apparated to a secluded magical portkey station arranged through McGonagall's contacts. A battered suitcase served as their portkey, and within moments, they were transported to magical Seattle.

Harry and his family arrived in the heart of magical Seattle, their identities secured under the names Harry and Hermione Black. The bustling magical district was a far cry from the tense and war-ridden atmosphere they had left behind in Britain. As they walked through the lively streets, filled with shops selling enchanted items and busy cafes buzzing with animated conversations, Teddy's eyes lit up with excitement. It had been far too long since he'd had the chance to simply enjoy himself.

The past year had been difficult for him. While Harry, Hermione, and Leah were embroiled in battles and intelligence gathering, Teddy was confined to the cottage and its surrounding lands. Though he never voiced his loneliness, the adults could see it in his eyes. They had promised him that once everything was over, they would take him somewhere fun, and now they were determined to keep that promise.

Their first stop was the famous Parchment & Potion Bookstore, where Hermione found herself drawn to shelves lined with ancient tomes and newly published works on magical advancements. Teddy, meanwhile, was fixated on a section filled with pop-up books that moved and interacted with the reader. Harry smiled as Teddy squealed in delight when a miniature dragon leapt from the pages and breathed a tiny puff of fire.

After purchasing an assortment of books, they made their way to the Luminous Lantern Cafe, known for its shimmering drinks that changed color with every sip. Teddy eagerly ordered a Goblin Fizz, a bright green concoction that bubbled furiously. Leah, still adapting to life in the magical world, opted for a simple enchanted hot chocolate, while Harry and Hermione enjoyed a calming Moonflower Tea.

"I could get used to this," Leah said, sipping her drink and watching the bustling crowd. "Much better than dodging hexes and ambushes."

Hermione nodded. "It's nice to finally have some peace. And it's important for Teddy to experience the magical world beyond all the fighting."

Teddy grinned, his face lighting up. "Can we go to the Magical Menagerie next? I want to see if they have any Kneazles!"

Harry chuckled. "Of course, buddy. Let's make a whole day of it."

The Magical Menagerie was a wonderland for Teddy. He spent hours observing various magical creatures, from chattering puffskeins to a regal-looking phoenix perched in a gilded cage. He particularly enjoyed the pygmy dragons, their tiny wings flapping as they hovered around enchanted crystals.

Later in the day, they explored an outdoor magical market filled with stalls selling everything from enchanted clothing to handcrafted wands. Hermione found herself examining intricately designed quills that could transcribe thoughts directly onto parchment, while Leah was fascinated by enchanted jewelry that shifted colors based on emotions.

As the sun began to set, the family strolled down the cobblestone streets, enjoying the magical ambiance of Seattle's wizarding community. Teddy skipped along happily, holding a newly acquired stuffed Kneazle toy close to his chest.

"Thank you," he said, looking up at Harry and Hermione. "This has been the best day ever."

Harry ruffled Teddy's hair. "We're just getting started, kiddo. There’s so much more to explore."

Hermione smiled warmly, exchanging a glance with Leah. "And this time, no more war. Just fun."

As they headed back to their temporary residence, the family felt a renewed sense of hope. They had endured the darkness of war, but now they were finally embracing the light of a new beginning, one filled with joy, laughter, and most importantly, peace for Teddy.

In magical Seattle, Hermione wasted no time diving back into her potion research. The war had put a halt to her efforts, but now, with peace and stability on their side, she was determined to push forward. The potion she had been working on—a groundbreaking formula that could temporarily transform vampires into humans—had shown promising results. In its initial stage, it allowed vampires to experience humanity for three hours, free from their immortal hunger and insatiable thirst. However, Hermione knew that this was just the beginning. Her ultimate goal was to develop a permanent cure, one that would grant vampires the freedom they so desperately craved.

With newfound enthusiasm, Hermione began gathering rare magical ingredients from the bustling markets of magical Seattle. She scoured through ancient apothecaries and rare herb shops, searching for elusive components like Moonflower petals, Phoenix ash, and Dragon's heart essence. These ingredients were not only difficult to procure but also required careful handling and precise alchemical processes. Hermione meticulously documented each step in her research journal, ensuring that no detail was overlooked.

Meanwhile, Harry found himself immersed in exploring the magical community’s fashion scene. He was particularly interested in acquiring enchanted jackets and other clothing items that provided protection and convenience without drawing attention. He browsed through numerous boutiques, purchasing garments imbued with defensive charms, temperature regulation spells, and even pockets that could expand to hold an entire arsenal of supplies. These would come in handy should the need arise, and Harry preferred to be prepared for any unexpected challenges.

Teddy, on the other hand, had his own mission. Having missed his friends dearly during their time away in Britain, he decided to put together thoughtful gifts for them. He enthusiastically collected an assortment of Blood Pops for the Cullens, knowing how much they enjoyed the magical treat that allowed them to curb their bloodlust. Additionally, he sought out unique gifts for his other friends—items that appeared ordinary to Muggles but were crafted using magical ingredients. From enchanted snow globes that displayed real-time weather changes to journals that self-write thoughts spoken aloud, Teddy's excitement grew with every purchase.

The Black family found solace in their new routine. The magical community of Seattle welcomed them warmly, and they appreciated the opportunity to lay low while focusing on their personal pursuits. Leah, who had become an integral part of their family, assisted Hermione in sourcing rare ingredients, often using her keen sense of smell to locate elusive herbs in the enchanted forests surrounding the city.

Despite the peace they now enjoyed, Harry remained vigilant. He knew better than to let his guard down completely. While Hermione busied herself in the lab and Teddy delighted in his shopping sprees, Harry kept a watchful eye on any whispers of unrest within the magical world. He discreetly maintained contacts with their allies, ensuring they were informed of any potential threats.

Harry knew that the time had come to return to Forks, to their mansion, and resume their life in the quiet town. However, he was also aware that they couldn't simply appear out of nowhere in Forks, considering the community was predominantly Muggle. To maintain a semblance of normalcy, he decided to purchase a car in Seattle. During their stay, Harry came across a brand-new edition of the Range Rover that caught his eye, and without hesitation, he made the purchase.

The drive from Seattle to Forks was a nostalgic one. Teddy was excited, pressing his face against the window, watching the dense forests roll past. Leah sat beside Hermione, reminiscing about the times they'd spent in Forks and wondering how much had changed in their absence. Hermione, always prepared, had already begun jotting down plans to reintegrate into the community while maintaining their magical secrecy.

When they finally arrived at their mansion, they were greeted with warm smiles and open arms. Sue Clearwater and Seth had been taking excellent care of the property in their absence. The mansion stood just as they had left it, perhaps even better maintained than before. The gardens were lush, the house spotless, and the air carried the familiar scent of pine and rain that Harry had missed dearly.

Sue welcomed them with a warm hug, expressing how much they had been missed in Forks. "It's good to see you back, Harry," she said with a smile, glancing at Teddy, who was already running toward the house. "We've kept everything just the way you left it."

"Thank you, Sue," Harry replied, his voice full of gratitude. "You've done an amazing job."

Seth, on the other hand, was reluctant to go back to his home. Over the past year, he had grown attached to the Black family and enjoyed his role in helping maintain the mansion. He had spent countless hours exploring the grounds, learning from Harry and even participating in some of the activities that had to be kept secret from his mother.

"You sure I can't stay a little longer?" Seth asked, his eyes hopeful.

Harry chuckled and patted Seth on the shoulder. "You know we’d love to have you, Seth. But we have a lot of magical stuff to take care of, and we can't risk your mom seeing anything she shouldn't. But I promise, you can visit anytime you want."

Hermione nodded, adding, "We'll make sure you get to spend as much time here as you want. And who knows? Maybe you’ll even pick up a few new things next time you visit."

To ease Seth's reluctance, Harry presented him with a special gift: a jacket made of dragon hide. The jacket, enchanted to provide warmth and mild protection against attacks , fit Seth perfectly.

Seth's eyes widened in awe as he ran his fingers over the smooth, sturdy leather. "Wow, Harry! This is amazing. Thank you so much."

"You're welcome," Harry said with a grin. "Just take care of it. Dragon hide isn't easy to come by."

With their return to Forks, life slowly began to settle into a comfortable routine. The townspeople welcomed them back warmly, and soon, the Black mansion was once again a hub of activity. Teddy resumed his playdates with the local kids, Hermione picked up her potion research where she left off, and Leah returned to her runs through the forest, embracing the freedom she always loved.

As Harry stood on the porch one evening, watching the sun set behind the towering trees, he felt a sense of peace he hadn’t felt in a long time. They were home, and for now, that was enough.
