TWS IEMs coming up…

The Moondrop Sparks should be provided to me by Apos Audio but not sure when it will arrive. I ordered the Sony WF-1000XM4 some days ago but it’s not yet in stock and will only be delivered by next week probably. And just today I noticed some Primeday discount for the Jaybird Vista 2 which I also ordered as thanks to its fully parametric EQ it could be one with the highest potential for further tweaking and fine tuning.
Maybe you remember I reviewed some Jaybird IEMs some time ago, I liked them a lot with additional equalizing but they needed foam tips and were not true wireless add the proprietary charging cable together with repeated Bluetooth hickups so that they were only collecting dust lately. But when I had a listen to them again with my EQ from back then and compared the sound to the Earfun they weren’t that bad actually. Just wanted to let all others know that it’s discounted right now and maybe it could become an even better all around IEM than the Earfun due to allegedly better hardware and software maybe. I cannot promise that I will manage an equally decent EQ for it though.
Last but not least one Patron sent me his Cambridge Audio Melomania already some time ago, thanks a lot for this. I will try to cover that one next although I didn’t really like it much despite some simple EQ option though the app I couldn’t quite manage to squeeze out something really decent out of it. Therefore I usually don’t bother with that product anymore as I simply think it’s not worth all the hassle. But now as I have it at home I decided to review it anyhow and maybe even make a public video about it.
Before I forget: there is also a brand new surprise portable speaker arriving this week which I will of course try shooting a live unboxing with. This could be really interesting or a complete disappointment as it’s from a speaker company which I usually regard highly, but it’s their first real small portable speaker, so stay tuned…

2021-06-23 12:03:23 +0000 UTCI did codec tests in my 20s and found already back then that Ogg Vorbis sounded just fine with -q4 which is around 120kbit, everything above 256kbit is hard to distinguish from original. In the meantime the Codecs improved even more and as long as I don’t notice any compression artefacts I am fine with compressed format.
