Earfun UBOOM L - firmware collection

I wanted to share some different firmware versions for the UBOOM L which may be interesting to some. Inside the archive are all necessary files including the original PDF by Earfun how to update the speaker as well as the product media tool.

I included 4 different firmwares which I would like to explain shortly what exactly they are:

V0 is the very first firmware I got from Earfun with their original settings and maybe still some bugs. The outdoor mode has no bass and the volume curve is different as well. I also noticed some distortion from bass with this setting, thus only recommended to those who are really curious about how the sound evolved.

V1 is the default firmware which is currently still installed on all sold units. The sound settings included here were created for the pre-samples I got first, but it doesn't sound good with the final production units.

V2 is the readjusted version I did for the 1st production sample I got. Compared to V1 also tried to improve bass response at high levels as well as smoothing treble for outdoor mode. As the 1st production sample sounded so different to the pre-samples this version probably won't give decent results on most units. So far only this single unit I received a while back seems to sound decent with this version, but if your unit doesn't sound good with neither the default firmware, nor the latest one, you can try if this could give better results. Bass response etc should be more or less the same as for the latest version, just optimised towards this particular unit.

V3 is the latest version (officially 0.44) and has the same EQ settings like 0.40 or 041 which was the version I optimised for the next 2 production samples I had received. In the meantime I could try this version on further 4 units I had bought on my own and it sounded fine on 3 units with just 1 unit still sounding off.  Compared to 0.40 or 0.41 Earfun now included the battery status indicator for IOS, which many had wished for, sound etc is still the same as with 0.40 or 0.41.

I will continue buying further units and check how these sound with my latest settings. As there seems to be some slight change in driver resonance between all units, I cannot guarantee that all units sound equally good. Most differences I noticed is in smoothness of treble. Some units may appear slightly sharper with treble, others smoother.

In case you "brick" your speaker during the update, which in reality is not possible, try another PC or another cable. I couldn't update 1 of my units anymore, but switching to another PC and performing the update again fixed the issue and the speaker worked flawlessly.

For those wishing an app for the UBOOM L: there probably won't be any, as the current Earfun app is outsourced to another company and the costs would be high to include the UBOOM L as well, while current sales are not that high to allow for further investments.

What is the latest FW version? A friend of mine got the speaker a week ago and it says 063.

well - after buying the TWS Oluv's edition I had no choice but to buy 2 Uboom L :) sound is very good - 120euro goes a long way 2022 when spent correctly. Own Maxsound Plus + a few even older speakers. A single uboom L beats them all - in strero really nice! FW update was a breeze with correct cable AND using the USB connection on the motherboard directly instead of connection on the case #typicalPCissues
