About AI art and the future
Added 2022-12-07 18:46:59 +0000 UTCI found this interesting comment from YouTube which pretty much sums up every major step forward in technology and something I explained to someone the other day. We create it in order to make like easier, yes that is true. However, when I see AI art it is something different, it mixes and meshes existing art created by others who have not at all given consent to be used by this machine it is like a copy paste the machine does with some tweaks here and there. But still it is using art already created and pretty much just editing it. It isn’t making art by itself which is the issue in general. Still, whatever the issue I’ll probably be nonexistent by the time everyone decides to stop supporting me or whatever. Those who will probably remain will be the big names so yeah. Thanks for being here those who remain and I hope you’ve had a good time so far with the content I created.

The original Luddites hated clothing machines because they would produce a worse product than weavers of the time. Fast-forward a hundred years; the machines have not only gotten much better, but they're dead-ass consistent to the 1000th stitch, and far more importantly, *far* more accessible to the average person. Eventually I think AI will do to animation what Unity becoming free did to game development. We could see 2D animations come back to the west without the "excessively tweened" look of Flash animation as artists gain access to models that let them basically draw/color "ground truth" keyframes and convert pencils for tweens to match with models. Yes, we're staring at a really messy birth, but you can't uninvent a technology. Wholesale art theft will probably be aggressively pursued, but the more likely-to-proliferate "style theft", where an artwork looks like nothing an artist has previously made, but definitely looks like something they *would* make, is gonna be a lot harder to deal with.
