Concepts for the November goodie bags

Hi guys!

Due to the accident I had in November, all of my work was brought to a halt. After a few weeks of healing up I finally have enough power in me to begin on catching up with the goodie bags 🤟🔥
Going back to drawing after such a long break can be a bit stressful. I didn't know if I will need a lot of time to warm up and get the lines in a good shape. To my surprise I came back invigorated and ready to fill up page after page! The concepts I had in mind were not landing the way I wanted, but I was excited to make it work~ I started with a bunch of thumbnails to test out the compositions and of course - in a mandatory step - I filled up the empty spots on the page with a few fillers~ It was very cold that they, and I've decided I won't be the only one who suffered from it ❄

First attempt for the print went really nice, I loved the calm and a bit clingy vibe of it, but due to a simple positioning of the bodies I wanted to dig a bit deeper and try out different compositions. It was getting pretty late and I knew, that I will not spawn anything of substance, so I filled the page with some headshots and tried out a posing from a different thumbnail.  The next day started with another warm up and another little thumbnail to test out another idea for the composition that popped into my head.  I used this photo as the reference for the kissing sketches:

It was time to transform the little thumbnail from above into a full fledged drawing. It came out nice, but there was something about the way my pencil landed on the page that was deeply unsatisfying.  You know that feeling when you find a perfect brush in a digital drawing software and suddenly every stroke feels like heaven? Well, something about the way my pencil hit the page , made me feel like I lost my favorite brush. Thankfully it didn't last for long.

Once the drawing was finished it was time for some random sketching. I really felt like I needed to do something with this whole "weird brush" situation, and I hoped that random sketching will help.  At the end of the second day, very late at night I thought that changing the paper may be a solution to my problem. In hindsight - I don't think it was.  Sometimes it's the lead in my mechanical pencil, other times just a bad day. I'm happy to say that whatever it was, it didn't stay for too long. In the next post I'm going to share with you a drawing that makes me super happy and I'd love to make it into a separate print! Stay tuned! 👀✨
