Weekly Report 19/05/23

As promised, a brief report on what I've been working on this week.
- Fixed various small issues in v0.13 and built a new version for release.
- Added a new quit screen featuring Charlotte. It will replace the current one after you've played past that point in the story.
- Started work on the three teaser images for v0.14. I'll post those next week.
- Rewritten the main code to make it clearer and easier to understand.
The rest of my time has been spent finalizing the remaining story. While I did have the basic plot worked out, things have evolved a lot since I wrote it .
For example, I hadn't originally planned on including Charlotte's mother, but since mentioning her, people have asked if she will appear. Well, now she will and I'll also go back and add a few more references to her and some phone calls between her and the rest of the family.

You know what would be good twist - the MC is Emma and Susie's real dad, Charlotte had major injuries that might make her forget what he looked like and the MC was shot multiple times in the military and suffered PTSD, the 2 daughters were too young to remember. That leaves only Lucy as a why doesn't she remember

2023-05-20 15:54:51 +0000 UTCI'm intrigued to see how Charlotte and Lucy interact with their mum. I'm sure she'll adore Suzi snd Emma and vice versa (pretty sure it's the law with Grandma's 😁) but a mother and her grown daughters has the potential to be more emotionally complex.

My own mother loved her mother-in-law, when she died, it was like losing her mother a second time. And I'm still struggling with Grandma's departure, 8 years later. My mother-in-law is dead, I never knew her. A friend's mother-in-law is very good, she makes a delicious tomato sauce, yes, he doesn't need much, but I tested it, she made a bolognese when I helped the friend move, and it's true: the best bolognese I've ever eaten. My brother's mother-in-law, on the other hand, I nicknamed her "Godzilla". Totally crazy. Once my brother had to get between her and his daughter, who she threatened with a knife ! And she's surprised that her daughter doesn't want to give her granddaughter to her for babysitting ! So what's it going to be? A good one or a bad one? Since her two daughters ran away from home early on, it doesn't look good. Since the protagonist had problems with his mother, a good stepmother could be interesting. I also wonder about Emma and Lucy's real father. Will we ever see him in the plot ?
