some designs have the shell opposite and other have them in the front. frankly I'm leaning on the front due to nautilus's having modified tentacles there, which can act as a lid to for them to cover their bodies IRL. It's a bit hard for me to mentally grasp but it got better as I saw more and more anatomical and photos of nautiluses.

I personally would see if I could hide a snack or two under there in those chambers they've got <3 also I think it would be funny to see them wear glasses as their eyesight is a bit :P maybe two monocles π§also ability to shield themselves ? boy I wish that were me and also reminds me of the shame cube
