Whelp, I think this particular scene is finally done.
Newest additions are the towels, which were real fun to do. Not only did they require a rather specific setup to try and get the dynamics reasonably natural, but I had to go back and redo the way the fabric loops were created. I wasn't happy with how they were all pointing in random directions before, which tended to create a very rough and oddly flat appearance from afar. The new system handling them tries to replicate the look and feel of a "brushed material", where all the fibres kinda flow and loop and whirl around across the surface together in a somewhat recognizable pattern.
I kinda wish this thing hadn't taken so long to pull together, but a lot of that time was spent working on various techniques (which are at least reusable moving forward) and figuring out various things inside a bunch of different texturing programs (surprisingly, I've never really done anything like this before).
In any case, I think I'm mostly happy with how this looks. Next up is some sequence stuff if I'm lucky.
