In the books, Gendry looks exactly like Robert in his younger years and Ned being besties with Robert since almost infancy immediately informs Ned that Gendry is his true born son.

2025-05-22 06:17:19 +0000 UTCNed was looking to see if Robert’s bastards would have blonde hair, and none of them do. “The Seed is strong” is basically saying that all of Robert’s children would have black hair and blue eyes, because his genetics would beat out blonde hair, because the genes of the Baratheon’s always produce heirs with black hair and light eyes.
