Basically, Funimation (the dubbing company) initially outsourced the first chunk of DBZ to a different Canadian studio. That studio dubbed the first 67 episodes. The “it’s over 9000!” meme came from them. After these 67 episodes, Funimation had enough resources to continue dubbing the show in-house in America, so they hired an American cast and continued from episode 68 onwards, and also did the OG show and GT. These American voices are the ones you’ve gotten used to. This all happened in the late 90s. In the mid 2000s, which was many years later, Funimation told their American actors to go back and re-dub the first 67 episodes so it’s consistent with the rest. This time gap is why all the voice actors sound so much more experienced here compared to what you’ll see starting from episode 67 (and what you’ve seen in OGDB). TLDR: This dub doesn’t have the “it’s over 9000” meme
