Comic for Wednesday 9/21 (Early High Res)

This GTA6 leak has been a firm reminder that a lot of people seem to have little to no practical idea about what goes into making a lot of things.

The fact that somebody leaked all this stuff is bad enough (it benefits nobody but the leaker looking to garner some clout), but watching people nitpick and criticize a product that is still obviously still deep in development and years from being ready for public consumption has been exhausting.

Yeah, I tend to ignore any earlier development leaks for just this reason. Even leaks of a game 80% done can vary so widely from the final product that a developer demo often fails to prepare consumers for the final product. If course, some indy developers have done behind the scenes early in development and those happen to be very fascinating. At that point though, it's less of a "this game is going to be awesome", and more of a "the process of building this game is cool". Kind of watching someone build of house for the sake of watching them building a house(another neat process to observe), not for expectations of the final product.

I don't see where they go at this point. I don't think they do either. Which is why the leak isn't as far along as anyone thought the game would be considering the age of GTA5. I have the feeling they wouldn't be even that far but, overtime underlying technology erodes to the point of just needing a full refresh. Mostly for maintainability and in there case port-ability.
