Manner Lesson

In the virtual world.

The members of Ponsuke’s guild were gathered inside a very spacious classroom.

Standing in front of a blackboard was the busy president of Pandora’s operating company, the information broker.

The information broker sighed while knocking the blackboard with his fist. The problem was written on it with large letters.

There was also an illustration that was drawn with chalk.

「Then, there is a player fighting a monster at the field. The player  is having a hard fight, and he will lose the way things are going. What  will you do if you’re there?」

Ponsuke and his happy-go-lucky friends.

Its members were discussing with their friends around them.

「No, in this situation there is only that choice.」

「No option other than that.」

「That one yeah.」

Everyone’s opinion was united into that. Lighter raised his hand and answered as everyone’s representative.

「We’ll sell healing item to the player. Depending on how cornered the  player is, we will be able to raise the price from twenty to thirty  percent. Perhaps that player will even agree to exchange the rare drop  for it!」

The craftsman players were all nodding.

The information broker’s avatar was wearing a hood so only his mouth was visible.

However that mouth looked twitching.

「……Wrong.」

「Why!? We aren’t doing any interruption and even properly ask whether  they need item or not! The player will be able to obtain item in that  dangerous situation by only paying a bit extra so it’s the best for  him!」

Lighter protested. In respond Alfie shook her head in exasperation.

「Oji-sa――Lighter, this is manner classroom you know? You should say the correct answer even if you have to lie.」

Lighter clapped his hands.

「You’re right. Then, I’ll make do with just ten percent.」

You’ve no problem now right? Lighter was looking at the information broker with a face that was saying that.

The information broker turned his gaze at Ponsuke who was sitting at the back so he didn’t get in the way.

But, Ponsuke had been covering his face with both hands in shame since some time ago.

「……I’m sorry. But even that is already a compassionate act for our members.」

Certainly buying item with ten percent increase in price was a good  deal if it could help a player from getting out of a dangerous  situation.

However, this was a place to study manner inside game.

「Wrong answer.」

Ponsuke and his happy-go-lucky friends.

Most of its members were immediately complaining to the craftsman players.

「You misers!」

「Help the player if they are cute girl. Obviously we should help them if perhaps they’re girl IRL!」

It was a guild that was filled with truly carefree bunch, but they were truly weak when it came to manner like this.

That was connected to their daily problematic action.

Ponsuke pressed his face on his desk while pressing his hands on his head.

(Shit! I never thought that gathering rookies who almost never played  online game before will come back to bite us in the ass like this.)

Ponsuke’s guild had gathered rookies and turned the guild into a group to enjoy game in a good and bad sense.

In other words, almost all of them were amateurs when it came to manner inside game.

Ponsuke too wasn’t someone who often played online game before Pandora.

Pandora was his first game where he began to play in earnest.

Mariela was sitting on her chair while crossing her legs with a bored look.

Her body was turning toward Ponsuke.

「Why do we have to get locked inside classroom even inside a game?」

Ponsuke lifted up his face and answered seriously.

「It’s for manner lesson.」

――Yes, Ponsuke and others were now studying through VR about manner in online game.

Right now they were studying about the rule inside Pandora, even so the lessons were all the basic among basic.

And yet they kept receiving lessons and questions in repeat for many hours without being allowed to leave.

The information broker coughed and displayed the next case.

「Then the next case. You discovered a player who is doing malicious act inside the game. What will you do?」

The guild members raised their hands one after another.

Alfie was looking confident.

「Punch them flying to make them stop!」

She answered with sparkling gaze. Perhaps she was recalling how Ponsuke punched a cheat player flying before.

Lighter shrugged in exasperation at Alfie’s answer.

「Alfie, you need to threat――negotiate for that kind of time.」

The purple haired Fran had a getup like a female knight.

The people around her considered her as a lady with the way she was  carrying herself, but even someone like her had gotten poisoned by the  other members. Now she was――.

「Illegal act eh. Shouldn’t we videotape it?」

Fran’s friend Noin had the experience of getting surrounded by players and being at the receiving end of violence.

They dealt with that act by getting recording of the act at that time, so she based her answer on that.

Noin nodded.

「Right. They might escape without proof after all! After that we can just beat them up.」

「Yeah.」

Fran and Noin agreed with each other, but both of them had been poisoned.

Anri who was stupid but proactive was getting irritated by that opinion.

「What’s the point of doing something that troublesome. Just beat them up first and that’s that.」

The orcs who were seriously sitting on their chairs while receiving  the lesson were looking happy hearing how the girls were thinking.

「Anri-chan has the talent isn’t she?」

「Yeah, if possible I want her to look at us instead of Ponsuke.」

「I want her to step on me, or maybe that’s wrong. Haa, will she think about taking a whip I wonder? Spear just isn’t for me.」

Anri had the style of fighting with spear. She was sitting while putting her feet on the table.

The information broker hit the blackboard.

「Wrong answer! It’s the right move to secure evidence though! But, you should first report it to the dev!」

Everyone made a face of realizing that only just now.

Among them there were also players who were amused by this situation and purposefully gave the wrong answer.

Nanako who was sitting near Ponsuke was looking happy with the classroom atmosphere.

「This feels fun for some reason, Ponsuke-san.」

Ponsuke nodded.

「Yeah. This might be fun if only not because of the situation that isn’t funny at all.」

Ponsuke never realized that his guild members were actually a  gathering of people who were this ignorant of manner. He was really glad  that they were taking this manner lesson.

What started it was the complains about Ponsuke’s guild that reached the management.

The main reason was jealousy toward Ponsuke’s guild that obtained a  mountain of rare items from making the city assault battle a  success……there was a reason why the complain couldn’t be dismissed as  something like that.

That was how bad the manner of Ponsuke’s guild was.

It had a lot of members who never really played game before. Many of  them also only played online game for the first time with Pandora.

Because of that some of them were playing without being aware of manner.

Their environment where there would be no problem as long as they  played with their fellow guild members as their party members also  didn’t help.

Ponsuke had finished that manner lesson and now he was sitting on a bench located at the Capital of Hope.

There was a large fountain behind him.

Female players were crowding him in that listless state.

From the outside, they had female appearance but it was unknown whether they were really female inside.

However, such beautiful female avatars were surrounding a huge orc with worried looks.

It would be a very strange sight if this wasn’t inside a game.

Anri yelled.

「You’re going to discard your avatar!? Ponsuke, are you sane!?」

A lot of players liked to remake their avatar over and over.

Because of that, anybody would have done it at least once.

Recently there was also a new method to keep the points that the  player had obtained, so many players that didn’t have attachment to  their old avatar had gone through a remake.

However, discarding an avatar and creating a new one was a different story.

It meant losing everything that the player had gathered until that point.

Equipments, rare items, points.

There wasn’t any merit with doing such thing.

Mariela and Alfie looked dumbfounded.

Ponsuke scratched his head with an embarrassed look.

「No, there’s no problem with discarding this avatar. Right now I’m thinking about what kind of avatar to use next.」

Using orc wasn’t bad, but if he was going to create a new avatar anyway then he wanted to try using a different race.

Because of that he tried consulting with everyone but…….

Guruguru from the middle school group was shaking his head.

「I think being orc really suited you Nii-chan.」

Ponsuke laughed.

「What do you mean that being an orc suited me? Well, I guess it’s  good as a joke but, ability-wise won’t becoming minotaur or something  else be better? My friend is using human, so I think becoming one like  that also won’t be bad.」

Fran who was normally looking composed was now looking everywhere but Ponsuke.

She looked like she was seriously thinking about something.

「N-no, I think being an orc again will be good if you’re going to remake your avatar. Yep, that’ll be nice.」

Noin also agreed.

「Somehow I can’t imagine Ponsuke looking like anything else than orc.  Even if you remake your avatar then you should be an orc again.」

Lily shrugged.

She was a foreigner who was accessing the game from overseas.

「Being rugged and muscular is better I think. I heard that being  slender and androgynous are more popular in Japan but, I prefer the  muscular type.」

Inaho was also nodding up and down.

「That’s right! Besides there’s no need to do this remake in the first  place. That information broker also said that there’s no problem.」

Ponsuke was surprised by everyone’s vehement respond.

「Eh, but……」

Mariela and Alfie brought their faces close to Ponsuke.

Ponsuke leaned back but they kept insistently closed the distance.

「Nothing beats Ponsuke staying as you are! Don’t be so pathetic just from running out of a control a little!」

「That’s right. The problem is also already resolved so there’s no  need to go through a remake! Don’t talk about such stupid thing, let’s  think about our plan for the summer break instead!」

Ponsuke was flustered by the opposition from the girls.

「……But, I’m the only orc among all the guild masters. It made me  stand out, or rather, everyone around me is good looking so I also want  to look a bit normal.」

He couldn’t persuade the girls with being out of control and the like  as his reason, so he told them about his wish to reinvent himself.

However Nanako got a sad look.

「Ponsuke-san, you’re cool you know?」

Ponsuke was shocked.

Certainly he had a stern appearance and he was standing out because  he was using a race that not many players used even inside the game.  Ponsuke was pleased with his avatar but, he never thought that it was  good looking.

Inaho was agreeing with Nanako even while looking flustered.

「That’s right! Ponsuke-san is the most radiant with your current  look! There’s no other orc guild master than you, so you should feel  more confident in yourself!」

Ponsuke never expected to meet a resistance this strong. It made him felt troubled instead.

(W-what should I do?)

Then Sierra who had been watching until now spoke.

「Ponsuke-san, if you don’t want to run out of control then can’t you  simply seal that Berserk skill? The problem will be solved if you don’t  use it.」

It was a convincing argument.

(I see. In the first place there won’t be any problem if I don’t go  berserk. But, it feels like I’m in a state that is keeping hold of a  bomb so it’s unpleasant.)

However, seeing everyone opposing it this much made him felt like it would cause trouble instead if he remade his avatar.

Ponsuke decided to keep using the orc avatar for a while.

「I-in that case I’ll keep staying like this.」

The girls looked relieve to hear that.

Ponsuke thought.

(This, I thought that normally girl should be happier with handsome  avatar though……well, this isn’t the real world so perhaps being handsome  here has the opposite effect instead?)

Ponsuke was troubled by the reaction of the girls (?) while bringing up another topic.

「Come to think of it, in a few days there will be maintenance for the large scale update――」

They would become unable to login into Pandora for a while then.

Because of that, they discussed about what they should do before that.

Guruguru muttered.

「A long maintenance just right during summer break huh. It’ll be lonely that I won’t be able to make racket with everyone then.」

Ponsuke nodded.

「It’ll be a bit lonely but, we’ll be able to meet again after that’s over.」

Guruguru and Ponsuke were talking joyfully.

Behind them, several of the girls were staring with the sharp gaze of a hunter.
