Chapter 18: The Great Sage’s Divine Judgment

I showed him and his daughters to the living room where Tita and others are also sitting.

It’s because his daughters said that they really wanted to talk with them.

I went to the kitchen alone and prepared the tiramisu and special coffee before returning to the living room.

While I was preparing the cake, Tita and Kururu are hitting it off  with the daughters of the great sage and they are now talking in  excitement.

Tita is especially getting along with the third daughter who is an  elf while Kururu is getting along with the fourth daughter who is a  dwarf.

Marle is acting completely spoiled toward the eldest daughter who has  white wings like an angel. It seemed that they had gotten acquainted  even before Marle came to my place.

All the gazes gathered on me the moment I stepped inside the living room.

「This is the sweets that can only be eaten here, tiramisu. In  addition there is coffee too, the beverage that suited this cake the  most.」

The sage’s daughters all raised their voices in excitement.

The great sage Merlin Enlight has a gentle look in his eyes seeing  his daughters like that. He looked like a normal father if someone only  saw him in this moment.

No, he isn’t just like a father, surely he too has such side in him.

He also tried the tiramisu and enjoyed the coffee.

Now then, how is the result?

I got cold sweat while observing the reaction of the great sage’s family.

His daughters are eating the cake with genuine enjoyment.

But, the great sage’s expression doesn’t change.

Now that he mentioned it, it’s something obvious.

I managed to prepare cow milk in the amount that can endure the  request of this festival because in my home village the cow’s selective  breeding and their propagation has succeeded already.

Certainly, the superior bred of cow can only be obtained in my home  village or my ranch. But, this man who can visit the orc village despite  being human has known about that.

「However. There is just one thing that I don’t understand. How were  you able to brew a coffee with a fragrance of this degree……in addition,  you were also using that specially processed coffee for this cake.  That’s the only reason why this cake surpassed my imagination, although  only barely. The great sage Merlin Enlight broke into a smile.

「The suspense is really bad for my heart, sensei.」

「Hmph, you called me here by using my daughter as your dupe. It  should be permitted for me to tease you a little in exchange. Now,  you’re going to teach me the secret of this highly aromatic coffee  aren’t you?」

「The coffee that is served in the festival and the coffee that is  served in my mansion are brewed with different methods. Although, sensei  is the first person to notice that difference.」

Not only the coffee that is served right now, even the coffee syrup  that is soaked into the tiramisu dough are also brewed in a special way.

「Tell me that special way to brew the coffee, don’t keep me in suspense.」

「It seems that sensei already has prior knowledge about coffee. Normally coffee is brewed using hot water.」

Furthermore I went  through a lot of effort and used specialized equipment to do it. By  doing that the coffee’s aroma became slightly better while the  off-flavor and acridity are also erased.」

This is the method called cold brew coffee.

This is the best method to create a coffee that is genuinely delicious.

However, the difference from normally brewed coffee is almost  insignificant even though that much effort is required to use this  method. The drinker won’t notice that difference unless they are a  diehard fan of coffee.

If a questionnaire is given to a hundred people, only ten people or less will be able to notice the difference.

「Fumu, so you spent that much effort just for this slight difference.」

「Yes, only those who understand it can understand. But, I have  promised that I will serve the best thing, so I didn’t cut corner at the  slightest. And in the end it became the clincher that manage to satisfy  sensei.」

「I shall give you full mark. That’s what it means to give  hospitality. Now it’s my turn to fulfill my promise. I’ll carry out your  treatment.」

The girls cheered the moment the great sage said that. Tita, Kururu, and his daughters high-fived.

……No, it’s still too early to get along like that.

Even so, his daughters are really great beauties. They really tickled my orc heart.

However, I completely hid that emotion.

I’m an orc who can read the mood. I know that I’ll surely get killed  by the great sage if I dare to expose my ulterior motive toward his  daughters right in front of him.

Well, but in case I seriously fell in love with them, I won’t  hesitate to risk my life to surpass the obstacle that is the great sage.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, I’m not in love with any of them.

「Please treat me well.」

「Umu, it looks like that the tool necessary for your treatment has also grown splendidly.」

The great sage’s gaze is directed at Marle.

Marle is created by the great sage by making a cell of Evol Slime to  absorb a piece of my soul and flesh. She is a tool for my treatment.

She was created with the premise as a disposable tool.

「Even so, Marle has feeling……also I, no we have taken a liking to her.」

The great sage’s voice is cold.

The argument that he said is sound.

Even for the great sage, creating an existence like Marle shouldn’t be a simple feat.

He spent that much time and effort to create Marle. It’s only natural  that I considered that perhaps there is no other way than that.

「I have thought of that possibility.」

「Hou, so you are saying this even knowing that?」

「Yes……if, there is really no other way, then I want to ask sensei to  instruct me in a way to fight using my broken magic circuit. I too have  tried out various things, but the best way will be for sensei yourself  to retrain me.」

The great sage let out a long sigh.

「That naïve and stubborn side of yours is just like Mireille. Fuu,  very well. 「Is it okay!?」

「It’s not about okay or not okay……as someone who is asked for  treatment, I don’t want to choose a method that has no certainty but, it  can’t be helped if the patient is the one who choose it himself. I’ll  treat you using another way.」

If the great sage said that, then surely this other method is really a gamble.

「What kind of method it is?」

「I’ll have Marle and you to enter the Room of Time Interstice right now.」

「Why is that?」

「Originally I would erase Marle’s personality and transplant her  matured magic circuit into you. But, if you want to keep Marle alive now  and in the future, I’ll have you two go through a special training to  use magic together.」

Using magic by the two of us together.

I can finally imagine the concept after hearing that.

This isn’t a medical treatment. It’s more like a way to use magic even while my magic circuit is still broken.

「I’ll be in your care!」

But, with this way Marle won’t need to die.

Beside, this is just my speculation but……if, it’s really just how I  imagined it, and if I managed to accomplish it perfectly, I should be  able to use even more powerful magic than before with this method.

After all, the demerit of this method is because of the difficulty in control of using one magic with two people.

But putting it another way, perhaps we will be able to split the  processing of the magic and using more powerful magic formula because  there will be two of us doing it together.

「Then pack up your luggage. It will take about one hour for me to  prepare the magic formula. You will hole in the room for one month, so  finish your preparation sufficiently before then.」

I nodded.

……Now then, it has been a long time since I used that room. I’ll be able to train for a month in one day.

I’ll acquire new strength inside there.
