Spooktacular, at last!

Since I last posted an update, the people at Patreon came to their senses and decided not to implement the new payment structure that everyone hated, so for the time being I'm going to keep doing this Patreon thing.

I'm considering reworking my own Patreon setup a bit, because I've ended up making fewer, larger games, plus I'd like to figure out something that encourages more direct engagement with you guys, possibly switching to a monthly model where I share drafts as well as finished games with patrons, since while I sometimes get pretty inconsistent on how often I do final game releases, I'm never not working on new games, and I'm seldom without a couple that are at least playable even if they're not ready for prime time. Thoughts?

Let's Get Spoopy

ANYWAY, the real news today is that Spooktacular is finally done! Despite it being a retroclone of a simple-yet-sound system, art and revisions dragged on for over a year. On the plus side, James Workman's art turned out amazing (as you'll see) and the text is generally really polished and now has a few new elements (like a couple more sample companies). It's been a fun game to work on and play, and I hope you all enjoy it. I'm already working on supplemental material for the game, but I've been wanting to get the core rules out into the world for a while, without preemptively gilding the lily. Regardless, I'll be sending out the PDF to eligible patrons shortly, and then probably take a nap because I had insomnia and woke up at like 4 a.m. today, and then start working on the POD versions and general release.

Other Games in Progress

As for upcoming stuff, I recently did the first playtest of The DnD Zone, a weirdly meta game where you play as gamers who are sitting down to play their favorite dungeon fantasy RPG. (So it's kind of like an RPG for The Gamers or Knights of the Dinner Table.) It needed some work, but the core concept of playing gamers playing a game actually worked and didn't become hopelessly confusing. Angel Project is ready for playtesting too! Hopefully those two games will come along before too long.
