World Building

Hey everyone! 

As I said earlier this week, I have been very busy with commissions, but as my schedule is clearing up a bit I've got more time to work on Patreon again. The past couple of weeks I have been toying with the idea of making my maps part of world building project. I've got a lot to say about this so bear with me!

You've probably noticed that all the maps that I've published are related to the Kingdom of Rasfadal. That started out with the swamp theme. I wanted each theme's maps to be related to each other so they can be used in one continuous adventure. However, I got quiet invested in the Rasfadal setting and wanted to continue expanding on it with the next theme, where I mapped the capital of Rasfadal. 

At that point people started showing interest in the setting and asking questions about what the rest of the world looked like, and where Hofendal was in relation to the Swamps. That made me realise that I'm not the only one that's invested in the setting. My placeholder name for the world is 'Wordal', but I'm open to suggestions! :D Below is a map of what we've explored of Wordal so far.

Underneath all those clouds I've got a general outline of the world/continent drawn and countries laid out. Most terrain features are sketched in as well, but all of it is subject to change, depending on where you decide to take this.  Each time we explore a new area it will be shown on the map by removing clouds! Little by little we're going to see our world take shape as we're building it!

Now as you know, every now and then I post a poll to ask my patrons what theme they want to explore next. That's not going to change. I decided that from now on I'm going to post polls in which I ask you what sort of theme you'd be interested in next (jungle, frozen, desert, countryside etc.) In the comments you can let me know what you'd like specifically. For example: you vote on a jungle theme and in the comments suggest a ruined temple hidden away deep in the jungle, or you vote for a desert theme and suggest a large oasis city. 

The theme that get's the most votes will be done next. I'll take a look at the suggestions for the winning theme and the next couple of maps will be based on them. I can't guarantee that your suggestion will get made into a map for various reasons. Not every idea fits into the world, and sometimes, especially when this has progressed a bit further, it might clash with already established maps/stories. Also, and I imagine this becoming a thing when my Patreon grows bigger, there might just be too many suggestions to do and I'll have to pick a couple. Anyways, let's not get ahead of ourselves and start with a poll first. The first poll is now live. 

A couple of things to keep in mind. I'm considering this world to be more low fantasy than high. The bulk of the population is made up of humans, with the standard fantasy races scattered throughout the world. Think elves, dwarves, orcs, maybe some halflings too. Defiitely more Lord of the Rings than Faerun, but as I said, that's just how I'm imagining this. If the majority of you wants something to be added, we'll add it!
