I seem to remember one big manufacturer of hydraulics (not SMC) selling a hydraulic artificial muscle, but I cannot find it now..

2015-04-28 03:33:57 +0000 UTCCurrent primary materials are muscles made from a titanium-nickel alloy, and a skeletal frame made from carbon fiber. Kim's previous prostheses used servos and actuators, which, while great for fine motor control, tend to be weak compared to hydraulics or a muscular suspension system. With this in mind, I've opted for more organic-inspired bionics, but with sturdier and more dynamic materials. You're not going to get the 360 degree range of motion you could with servos, but you can achieve fluid motion and markedly higher strength all around.
