The next one will have her crimson moon girlfriend and the final one the gf again and a certain Mondstadt witch.
I'm getting a little tired of complaining about there not being enough time and skilled labour so instead let's do a quick post-mission breakdown.
Good:
-The colors are great, I planned this stuff way ahead of time and it worked exactly as I wanted.
-I had a helper who did a lot of stuff just like I needed it done. Nothing was dropped, lost or broken and I also didn't have to break my back getting the FUCKING helium tank back home. Nice.
-We got the suit on and off no problem. Studio admins got the delicious gift of plastic bag of girlsweat.
-The audio is better than it could have been because we successfully hid the mic in the hat
-My phone+Meitu work perfectly fine for thumbnails and backstage pics, I should stick with that going forward. Can you guess which ones are mine and which are from Carnelian's phone?
Points for improvement:
-Would have been a good idea to double check the size of the toy before shooting. Good thing I booked a huge cyclorama and a 8x8 frost frame that barely fit the space ( we had to move it to get onto the white seamless, a shame I didn't take a picture).
-If the helper is not experienced with helium two hours of prep must be booked, not one.
-White on white will blend together, duh. Separate with edge lighting if possible.
-ATBC-softened toy, slippery latex catsuit, balloon popping while riding the toy. One of these three things have to go for a more exciting video. A bit counterintuitive but it makes sense if you think about it.
-Astera AX1 tubes are surprisingly dim? Where are my pretty highlights bruh

Oh right, forgot to mention that the rule of thumb for dosage of the softener is 5% of the toy's weight. (Also mentioned by HeathDragon in his video)

2025-10-13 02:38:07 +0000 UTCFirst, the video: Great, I love the energy. Furina is one of my favorite characters along with her gf (excited for seeing them together in one of your next works ^^). Even the struggling and the accidental pop were so fitting! She's truly our dearly loved girlfailure xD Now, about the ATBC and softening. Do you remember how much ATBC you used? I would say it was too much, like you already suspected. You probably didn't factor in that IW uses thinner 0.25-0.27mm vinyl for their toys as opposed to the 0.4mm thick vinyl used by PuffyPaws and other custom inflatable companies. The vinyl thickness and size of the toy are pretty important when deciding the amount of softener to use. Also keep in mind that softening an inflatable also increases the risk of the material tearing under stress since it is easier to stretch when softer. The area that gave in the video was put under quite a bit of stress during the filming. Not softening the flippers might also have played into it since the seam area where the tear happened had softened vinyl on one side and non-softened material on the other. It's best to use a smaller amount of ATBC and give enough time so it can soak fully into the vinyl and then slowly repeat the process until the desired softness is achieved. If you haven't seen it already, there is a video on YouTube by HeathDragon about softening that explains the basics pretty well. I could also try to reach out to some people in the community that have pretty good knowledge about softening and toy building to gather some useful advice if you want. ^^
