LIBRARY - Part 1 of 3 [Arcane University]

Hello everyone! Sorry for such a long break between posts. This time of year is definitely hectic, but I have a special three part map planned, featuring an arcane university.

A simple courtyard separates the library from two greenhouses dedicated to studying herbology and cultivating plants and fungi used in potion-making. Up the stairs into the library, students are met with an enchanting atmosphere, lit by eternally glowing chandeliers that bathe the space in warm light. The air carries the distinct scent of aged parchment, ink, and leather. Below a wraparound balcony, rows of towering shelves are packed with an extensive collection of books on a wide range of topics.

On the first floor, smaller sections of the library house archival materials, including cabinets filled with records and shelves of rare volumes and fragile scrolls. The Headmaster’s office is also located on this floor, accessible through large double doors monitored by the ever-present Librarian. Inside, the office is adorned with arcane artifacts, a rack of fine wines, and a modest desk for private studies. A teleportation circle within the office connects directly to others across the campus, ensuring quick and secure travel for those who know the incantation.

The library is protected by four towers that house globes of shimmering magical energy. Each tower serves a specific purpose: powering teleportation circles, keeping the chandeliers perpetually lit, summoning apparitions to maintain and protect the campus, and most importantly, preventing destructive spells that could harm the collection.

The second floor offers a variety of study nooks and comfortable seating areas designed for both focused research and casual discussions. The towers on this level also protect four ancient and unique books, each under constant surveillance. Viewing these books requires strict approval from both the Librarian and the Headmaster, ensuring they remain secure and preserved.

Above the Headmaster's office, a grand balcony showcases a collection of artifacts belonging to legendary sorcerers and wizards. Among the exhibits are intricate globes depicting distant realms, ancient sarcophagi etched with forgotten runes, and the centerpiece of the display—a massive dragon skull mounted to overlook the library below, its hollow eyes seeming to watch all who enter. Flanking the exhibits, suits of ornate armor stand at attention. These enchanted sentinels are ready to spring to life, defending the collection should anyone attempt to tamper with the display cases.
