Process GIF (Vector and Big Picture)

Here's a little GIF I put together to show off my process:

First I make several sketches

Then I do the lineart for each character individually. Since I get impatient to see such slow progress (lineart takes a lot of time) I often color in whatever I can color in or color it before I start working on the next character (which I super dont recommend but that's how I do it), then I do the next one and lastly I do whatever part connects both characters

For shading and lighting, I do two "sketches", where I pick an appropiate color and draw over the picture where the shadows/lights should be. Then I use that as reference for the proper shading. (I also remove the color from the picture so I can visualize the shadows properly.)

Then I adjust the shadows and lights layers with the proper opacity so that it will make the picture look good, and then I add a background!

And that's pretty much it! It's a pretty basic and simple process, but it's the process I follow. It's also very flawed and not very efficient specially since I technically do several things at least twice but you know.

Comments

I had to "scale" it for two reasons, one is that I try to go for cartoon realism so if something crosses the line into hyper where I'm not trying to make it hyper I feel like it doesn't belong, and the fact that I know not everyone into hyper, so I had to make it a lil more "reasonable".

Aww maaan, Big was almost even bigger than he already was. Would've loved to have seen that in the finished product.
