Bumps in the road...

So due to some personal stuff that came up and very minor software/equipment failures (Premiere's effect controls were goofing up, my cell phone/camera was overheating, and it took me AGES to get a lighter to work AS I was recording on my phone which was overheating!!) the ep's been delayed. I might still be able to finish by tomorrow but it seems less likely. I apologize for another delay in content here. BUT to make it up to y'all here's a patron-exclusive preview clip. Content subject to change (and a lot of content in between those two clips got cut that might be put back in) but it's a fun/goofy live action bit I mostly have timed out.

There's also the (repeat) issue of the ep getting away from me a little bit. I did way more research than I usually do for this one. With previous episodes I mostly wrote in my own voice and spent a lot of time compiling clips. This one is more academic and literary and I'm drawing from Astruc, Truffaut, Bazin, Kael, and Sarris, and trying to synthesize those into something coherent and entertaining. Also, spoilers- I've come out of this a much harsher critic of auteur theory than I was going in.

I'd just finish the ep by Thursday night instead, but I leave tomorrow- I'll be at Dragon*Con this weekend!! I shouldn't have a problem finishing it when I get back (the VO audio is all recorded and mostly cut down and I have a ton of clips compiled already). If anyone will be at the convention let me know and let me know if anyone wants photos or footage of anything. I might make a video essay on cons one day because I love them. My first real video essay was on Dragon*Con, actually!

I recorded the VO and cut it together in Sony Vegas Studio in one night for a grade. I didn't know how to animate stills in Vegas and my phone at the time was horrible with really off white balance so a lot of the photos (which I should have color-corrected) look awful. It's a fun essay, though, and you can hear my southern accent much stronger in it than in current stuff. So there's one video essay for you to watch tonight, at least.
