Sky Whales Series (Spring Preview)

Hi fish fries!! I'm so excited to show off these patterns I've been working on these past few months! One of my very first designs I've made when I started Umvvelt was the Moon Visitor design that has become really well loved since Umvvelt's opening and I, in general, just really love the whales x skies theme so this Spring's release is going to revolve entirely around that theme!

For those of you who remember, I made these three designs (intended for the A4 Dotted Journals I released sometime two years ago) revolving the same theme and wanted to revisit them and try my best to improve on drawing whales, specifically working on designs that more accurately represent certain species!

I've always drawn a very general design when it comes to whales, stealing a lot of memorable traits from various popular whale species but if anyone where to ask specifically what species of whale I drew I wouldn't really know how to answer since... the whales look like a mash up of a lot of different species (with maybe the exception of the last one where I purposely aimed for a humpback whale theme). 

For these specific four patterns, I wanted to emphasize/show off different species of whales, along with different stages of skies throughout the day! The four species I chose to highlight were: the blue whale (light blue/afternoon skies), the grey whale (pink/sunset), the humpback whale (purple/twilight), and the humpback whale (dark blue/night). I'm personally really pleased with the difference in design/colour choice compared to my designs I made back in 2019-2020!

I struggled a lot with working on patterns in the past, mainly because I had the issue of making patterns look like they repeat and flow seamlessly without looking "blocky." I did some research and found the best way that has worked with me as well, which I've shared below!

If anyone has trouble creating patterns and would like to try this method, please let me know how this works for you as well! I'd love to hear if it works for others as well as it did for me! 

I'm planning on releasing these patterns on the classic button-ups, desk mats+matching wrist rests, and also a new addition: backpacks! I've attached some photo previews as well ^o^/

Way to go overboard on patterns right but, if I can be honest, I love the versatility of patterns for this very reason so I hope you see something you like! Let me know which design is your favourite so far and why as well! I'm really excited to be revealing this in April/May!
