Chapter 10: The Guide? The Sand Dunes Team!
Added 2024-09-07 15:27:43 +0000 UTCEverything has finally settled down.
No sudden monsters appeared, and no extra dramatic twists developed.
In the distance, a massive interstellar warship, beyond human imagination, disengaged its cloaking. Hundreds of adult Predators stood in neat rows, surrounding the clan elders.
But they were nothing more than the background.
As the announcement of the main mission’s completion arrived, everything ceased moving. No matter the injuries sustained, even those clinging to the last thread of life wouldn’t deteriorate or die during this moment.
And in this frozen time, floating in front of Kouga and the four newcomers was not the familiar glowing orb of the Lord God, but rather the sickly woman who, at the beginning, had responded positively and cooperated but barely participated in the mission, choosing instead to stay put.
At first, Kouga comforted her, telling her that once they returned alive to the Lord God’s space, her so-called incurable illness would be a joke and could be easily cured.
At this moment, the tall, unnoticed woman—her gaze empty, her voice mechanical but as obedient as ever—spoke.
“Members of the Sand Dunes team who have undergone the trial, I am the guide of this squad.”
Sand Dunes?
No way. I ended up here.
Kouga couldn’t help but sigh, though he wasn’t too surprised. After all, the first time he was hit by a bulldozer, he had been on a business trip to the Middle East—either wrapped in cloth, fabulously wealthy or dangerously terrifying.
“Reincarnator Kouga, you have met all the necessary conditions to be certified as a captain.
Now, please make a choice: Will you accept becoming the captain of the Sand Dunes team? Once confirmed, you will assume the corresponding responsibilities and gain partial access to the Lord God's space and permanent enhancements.”
The woman spoke emotionlessly, as though she were simply going through the motions.
Without much thought, Kouga blurted out, “I accept.”
Compared to the so-called responsibilities, the unknown rewards from the Lord God and the captain’s authority were clearly more enticing.
Otherwise, wouldn’t it all be for nothing?
With this firm response, Kouga was enveloped in a glowing halo.
It contained a deeper power, something beyond bloodline.
Unlocking the genetic lock!
First stage, achieved.
In reality, this domain didn’t require one to be on the brink of life and death to comprehend it. The essence was intense focus and concentration.
It’s just that facing immense fear tends to sharpen focus…
While digesting the extra knowledge granted by the Lord God, the light of return soon spread over this frozen time-space.
Kouga was now certain that the Lord God's space he was in wasn’t from the first generation—the era of Zheng Zha, when everyone was broke.
Second generation?
Third generation?
Neither seemed right.
It must be a multiverse space created by some other unknown entity.
In the next moment, what appeared before him was a plaza he had imagined several times—
He was floating on a vast, empty platform. In the center was an enormous, dazzling orb of light that illuminated the entire space.
“Lord God, restore all team members.”
“Deduct the points from me!”
The voice came from none other than Captain Kouga. He was now filthy rich, a true Sand Dunes tycoon, and healing a few burns wouldn’t cost many points—it was like giving the team a little bonus.
After all… these guys were lucky enough to survive the most difficult first mission and earn the initial points to strengthen themselves.
Three men and one woman.
To be honest, Kouga didn’t expect that the black man, who knew nothing about the plot and relied entirely on others to explain things, as though he were from a primitive tribe, would still be alive. Despite being severely burned and having a punctured abdomen, he had survived.
At the same time.
The orb of light in the center of the plaza responded to the request, sending down five beams that enveloped everyone present.
“It feels like a hot spring, so gentle…”
“And it even repairs our clothes.”
Muttering to himself, Kouga canceled his transformation technique, reverting to his efficient ninja outfit. In high spirits, he slowly descended from the light beam.
“Boss!”
The crew-cut young man, Tang Tian, was the first to rush up and greet him, displaying an overly familiar warmth that left the other three reincarnators feeling a mix of awkwardness and envy.
After all, from the moment they were chosen by the Lord God until the protective barrier disappeared, Kouga had only spoken a few words to them to earn some extra explanation fees.
One hundred fifty-three points spent?
Through a mental link, the Lord God sent him the bill—just as expected.
“Everyone, I’m glad to see you all again.”
Calming his thoughts, the newly appointed captain of the Sand Dunes team broke the silence to ease the awkwardness among the new members:
“I’ve officially been chosen as the captain of the Sand Dunes team, and with the new permissions, I’ve obtained some key information from the Lord God.”
“Unlimited food supplies, all kinds of entertainment goods are dirt cheap…”
All the small details of daily life were explained, making up for the previous lack of care.
“Now, please introduce yourselves.”
“Tang Tian!” The crew-cut guy responded first, already acting like Kouga’s follower. “I had just graduated and was working for a state-owned company on a construction project in the Sand Dunes. One night, I got unlucky and was killed by a falling steel beam.”
“Emir.” A bearded, muscular man wearing large sunglasses followed closely behind. “I was killed during a royal hunting event, probably because one of my brothers or uncles thought I was in their way.”
Quite the story.
But in the Lord God's space, status means nothing—it’s all about personal ability.
The only thing that caught Kouga’s attention was the fact that this guy had a third plasma pistol in his arms.
Not bad…
While silently evaluating him, Kouga’s gaze turned to the team’s only female member.
An Arab woman.
Because of the trial’s environment, she had shed her heavy white robe and instead wore a thick polar survival suit, still covering her face with a veil, only revealing her light blue eyes—extremely conservative.
“Haida.”
Compared to the chatty men, her response was short and to the point.
Of course, Kouga didn’t care about those details. As long as they knew each other’s names, that was enough. He still had plenty of crucial information to absorb!
“Alright, from now on, we’re a team. Let’s support each other and go further together. At the very least, let’s not end up like the previous generation… wiped out in a trial with no one left to carry on.”
“Because once the sole guide selects a captain, they vanish as well.”
