Chapter 381: Big Brother-in-Law Party

After leaving the set, Link drove back to the Woolworth Building apartment, changed clothes, and took Ivanka to the wealthy villa area on the west side of Central Park, where his brother-in-law Edward Trump lived.

Edward Trump is Ivanka's older brother, thirty years old, serving as the vice president of the Trump Group real estate company, a typical second-generation wealthy scion.

Link had also met him at a party at the Trump family mansion, so they were not unfamiliar with each other.

"Hi, Edward, happy birthday," Link said, handing over the birthday gift Ivanka had chosen.

"Haha, thank you! Link, it's great that you could come. We must have a few drinks together," Edward Trump said, extending his arms and giving Link a warm hug.

Link smiled lightly, patted Edward's shoulder, and saw Tiffany approaching. He asked her what she had been up to lately and why she hadn't gone to Ivanka's place to play.

Tiffany glanced at Ivanka and rolled her eyes, saying that she was still a student and had to attend classes every day, so she didn't have time to visit frequently. She added that even if she wanted to go, someone wouldn't welcome her, hinting at Ivanka.

Ivanka snorted softly and said that since Tiffany became an internet celebrity, she was glued to her phone and computer, constantly taking pictures. Her semester exams had three failing grades. To prevent her from continuing to mess around, Ivanka had confiscated her computer and strictly monitored all her social media accounts, allowing her to post only one message a day until she went to college.

"Link, do you think Ivanka's actions are right? Doesn't this infringe on my rights?" Tiffany pouted, her round face showing dissatisfaction.

Link glanced at the stern-faced Ivanka and smiled, "Your sister is doing it for your own good."

"Forget it, pretend I didn't ask," Tiffany said, waving her hand. "I heard from Selena that you are even stricter with her. You nag her to go to bed early, wake up early, exercise, and read books. You even gave her a long reading list. The worst part is that when you went on a tour in China last month, you brought back a hundred SAT practice tests and made her do them. Selena said she was going blind from reading and felt like vomiting from doing the tests. Oh, poor Selena."

"SAT practice tests? That sounds great. Are these available on Amazon? I could buy a hundred sets for Tiffany to do," Ivanka said with interest.

Tiffany's face changed, and she shook her head frantically at Link.

Link nodded cruelly and said, "Yes, they are available."

Tiffany glared at the two of them and stormed off angrily.

Link chuckled softly, took Ivanka by the waist, and walked into the party. The guests were all young people, many of whom were familiar faces, including Mila Kunis, Peter Pelz, David Zuckerman, Luther Dietsch, Josie Epstein, Georgia Bloomberg, Amanda Hearst and her sister, the Hilton sisters, and many other well-known names. Most were second or third-generation wealthy individuals, with Link being the only first-generation.

"Josie Epstein is here too? I didn't know he was your friend," Ivanka said coolly.

"Haha, we've had a few drinks together. Josie Epstein is quite an interesting guy," Edward laughed.

"I have to say, your taste in friends is still terrible. Not a single decent person," Ivanka said coldly.

Edward's eye twitched, and he looked at Link with a wry smile.

Link, holding Ivanka by the waist, said, "It's Edward's birthday today, so let's not say things that spoil the mood."

Ivanka glanced at him and said nothing more.

Edward breathed a sigh of relief, gave Link a grateful wink, and pointed to a young man next to Mila Kunis. "Ivanka, look at who that is. I'm making progress."

Link and Ivanka looked over. Standing opposite Mila Kunis was a young man in a red suit, about twenty-six or twenty-seven years old, with short brown-gold hair and a handsome, clean-cut appearance. Despite the group of wealthy and powerful individuals around, including the likes of Mila Kunis and David Zuckerman, the young man in the red suit occupied the central position, surrounded by a crowd.

"David Ellison?" Oracle CEO Larry Ellison's eldest son, who in early 2010 ranked sixth on Forbes' global billionaire list with a net worth of $28 billion.

"Haha, yes, that's him. I met him at a lingerie—cough, I mean, high-end fashion show party. He's now the CEO of Skydance Media, and he earned a fortune of over $100 million without relying on his family. He's a very capable guy, and we get along well," Edward said proudly.

"Hey, Link, Mr. Link Baker, it's great to see you here. I'm David Ellison, and I'm a fan of yours," said the young man in the red suit, who had noticed them and walked over, extending his hands enthusiastically towards Link, his face showing excitement and admiration.

"Hi, David, I've heard of you too," Link said, shaking his hand.

David Ellison held both of Link's hands and smiled, "Have you heard that my first movie lost $50 million? They say I'm a spendthrift."

Link smiled lightly, aware of the rumors. It was said that David Ellison loved air combat movies like "Top Gun" and "Pearl Harbor," so his first film project was "Flyboys," which lost $40-$50 million, one of the biggest flops in recent years. But bringing up this embarrassing topic himself showed that he was a straightforward person.

"No, I've seen the promotion for 'True Grit,' your new project. The trailer looks excellent," Link said.

"True Grit" is a Western adventure film co-produced by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media, set to be released in December. Directed by the famous Coen Brothers, with Scott Rudin, one of Hollywood's top ten producers, as the executive producer, and David Ellison serving as the associate producer. The lead actor is Jeff Bridges, who won the Oscar for Best Actor earlier this year, with Matt Damon as the supporting actor. From production to direction to the cast, it's filled with top talents, guaranteeing high quality. Many people envied David Ellison for being able to train in such a crew.

"Haha, thank you! I only did a small part of the work in that movie. Even if it becomes a hit, my contribution will be minimal. Speaking of movies, your company's 'Easy A' is the real success story. With an $8 million investment, it grossed over $160 million worldwide, nearly a twenty-fold return. Link, how did you do it? My first movie lost over $50 million because I knew nothing. You made $50 million on your first try. That's incredible."

David Ellison wouldn't let go of Link's hand, chattering on and even pushing Edward Trump aside without noticing.

Ivanka smiled with pursed lips and walked over to Georgia Bloomberg, chatting with David Ellison's sister, Megan Ellison.

Seeing David Ellison's enthusiasm and admiration, Link couldn't brag but humbly said that he was only responsible for the investment. The rest was managed by the company's producer, and his contribution to the film was minimal.

David Ellison disagreed, saying that Link was not only the producer but also a supporting actor in the film. Without his performance, the box office wouldn't have been as high. This was also the opinion of professional magazines like "Total Film" and "Variety," which noted that Link's various promotional tactics during the release helped the movie reach the headlines several times, greatly boosting the box office.

Besides movies, David Ellison was also a fan of Link's boxing and music, recounting many of his matches in detail. He said that he often watched Link's fights with his father, Larry Ellison, who would comment on Link's tactics and techniques, saying his father also admired Link's boxing.

Hearing David Ellison talk about those boxing matches, Link realized that he was indeed a true fan. Only a real fan could remember such details, and given that he was the son of a billionaire, he wouldn't bother remembering those things unless he genuinely liked them.

Seeing that David Ellison was a sincere fan, Link's attitude became more enthusiastic. He invited David to sit down and chat with a glass of champagne.

Not far away, Peter Pelz, Josie Epstein, and others looked at the chatting pair with unhappy expressions. When David Ellison arrived, they had enthusiastically greeted him and talked about many interesting topics, but David's attitude was cold, not even giving them a smile, maintaining a high and aloof demeanor.

They had thought he was incapable of smiling and didn't mind. However, when Link arrived, David acted like a fervent fan meeting his idol, showering Link with praise and smiles that never faded.

Peter Pelz sneered, thinking that the son of a billionaire didn't need to fawn over Link like this. It was embarrassing.

Mila Kunis saw how warmly everyone, especially the Trump family members, treated Link after he arrived, treating him as a family member and Ivanka's husband. This made him furious. He had briefly enjoyed such treatment, but after Link appeared, everything changed, and he became an outsider.

"You guys said you'd teach him a lesson. Why hasn't there been any movement for half a year?" Mila Kunis asked in a low voice, but with a still warm and elegant smile.

"We did make a move. The recent online smear campaign was our doing. The situation was dire, and Link was nearly toppled by us. But then Tesla went public

, and his net worth soared to billions. The momentum shifted, and we couldn't do anything more," Josie Epstein said, shaking his head.

Tesla went public last month, and its stock price surged, instantly making Link a billionaire, completely beyond their means.

Thinking of this, they felt depressed and helpless. In the face of such a powerful opponent, all their tricks were useless.

Link didn't know about the small schemes of Peter Pelz and the others. Even if he knew, he wouldn't care.

David Ellison's enthusiasm for boxing was evident. He repeatedly invited Link to train and compete at his private gym and even boasted that it was top-tier.

Given that David was a billionaire with deep pockets, Link nodded, saying he'd definitely visit when he had time.

David Ellison's private gym was indeed top-notch, not just a basement in his mansion. In fact, he had an underground gym built underneath his mansion, covering more than 20,000 square feet, equipped with top-class facilities. This gym was similar to the one his father Larry Ellison built in his own mansion, worth over $10 million.

Seeing David Ellison and Link chatting happily, Ivanka walked over and took Link's hand, whispering in his ear.

Link smiled and said to David, "I'm sorry, David. I have to accompany my girlfriend. We'll chat more later."

David understood and nodded, saying, "Alright, Link. Don't forget to visit my gym."

Link nodded with a smile, said goodbye to David, and left the party with Ivanka.

Watching the departing figures of Link and Ivanka, Peter Pelz and the others exchanged glances, their expressions gloomy. They knew they couldn't compete with Link and had to tolerate him.

As the party continued, the guests enjoyed themselves, but the atmosphere was somewhat tense. Although most people admired and liked Link, a few wealthy second and third-generation individuals saw him as an outsider.

Regardless, Link didn't care about their opinions. He had achieved what he wanted: getting to know David Ellison and leaving a good impression on Edward Trump. These were enough for now.
