Chapter 133: The Unexpected Arrival of Kratos (Part 1)
Added 2024-09-16 01:47:24 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, the madman General Zod, with his extreme ideologies, did not succeed. Now, the so-called Kryptonians are reduced to him and a few dozen loyal followers.
Of course, there's also the "Codex" of Krypton. All the DNA of unborn Kryptonian children is encoded in this Codex, which Superman's father placed in the ship that carried Clark to Earth. According to his plan, by using the *World Engine* to transform Earth's environment into one similar to Krypton, they could cultivate new Kryptonians and bring Krypton back to life.
Everything sounds wonderful, but it comes at the cost of sacrificing billions of Earthlings.
Superman decisively refused.
General Zod, with his followers, acted on his own without further discussion. His two hypersonic spacecraft flew out of the mothership and began descending toward Earth...
At the same time, while Superman was restrained by Kryptonian manacles designed specifically for their own kind, Lois Lane was also having a tough time in the Kryptonian prison.
Following Clark's instructions, she first inserted the "USB drive" (the master control key for the Kryptonian ship) she obtained from Clark's ship into a port inside the prison. This allowed the program, almost equivalent to Clark's father's soul, to directly infiltrate General Zod's ship.
Immediately, a holographic projection of Clark's father, Jor-El, appeared.
Zod's ship was designed by Jor-El, and he began cooperating with Lois. First, he converted the ship's air system. Because Kryptonians breathe a different air composition than Earthlings, when Jor-El began altering the ship's air system to suit Earthlings, it became toxic for the Kryptonians.
However, the Kryptonians had an air purification system in their spacesuits, allowing them to remain active.
At this point, Jor-El guided Lois to escape.
“What about Clark?”
“Don’t worry, he’ll find it easier to escape than you.”
Despite his confidence, this digital ghost of Jor-El miscalculated one thing.
Kryptonians do not have superpowers on Krypton; his son Kal (Superman) has powers because of Earth's weaker gravity and its yellow sun.
On Krypton, they are no different from Earthlings, but their red sun limits their strength. On Earth, however, they can absorb the energy of the yellow sun, which gives them their superpowers.
By now, the Kryptonian soldiers who had spent some time in Earth’s orbit and on the Moon had already begun developing extraordinary strength, agility, and speed.
As Jor-El guided Lois to fire at the approaching Kryptonian soldiers following the alarm sounds, a significant twist occurred.
To Lois, the soldier’s movement seemed almost like teleportation.
“Ah!”
In an instant, Lois was lifted off the ground by a Kryptonian soldier.
“Lowly Earthling, don’t think you can escape.”
The terrifying strength from the soldier’s two fingers, stronger than the pincers of a deep-sea beast, made Lois feel like she was on the verge of passing out.
At that critical moment, a mysterious portal suddenly opened behind her.
A somewhat pale but equally strong arm shot out like lightning and gripped the soldier's hand.
“Who?!” the Kryptonian soldier exclaimed in shock.
Neither he nor his approaching comrades had ever imagined that, on this heavily guarded ship, without an external attack alarm, a strange bald man would appear out of nowhere.
Several other Kryptonian soldiers immediately raised their guns and fired.
“Pew! Pew! Pew!” Intense laser beams flashed, illuminating the narrow, root-like gray-black corridor of the ship as if it were broad daylight.
Before the bald man could make a move, a valiant-looking woman charged forward, using a peculiar golden round shield to block the shots.
Lois widened her eyes in astonishment. The scene before her was bizarre—a clash between futuristic high-tech weapons and what appeared to be a primitive shield. By all logic, the high-tech should have won.
Who could have predicted that half a second later, the shield would reflect the laser beams back the way they came?
“Pew! Pew! Pew!” The shots eliminated the soldiers who had fired them.
Meanwhile, the hand that nearly strangled Lois moments earlier was punished by an even more terrifying force.
“Crack!” The sound of bones shattering from the male Kryptonian soldier’s wrist was so clear that even Lois could hear it.
“Ahhh—” The soldier’s shrill screams were abruptly cut off a second later.
A bizarre golden short blade pierced through his throat, ensuring he'd never speak again.
Three figures, dressed in ancient Greek style, stood proudly in the small slaughterhouse.
As a journalist, how could Lois not know who these people were?
“Kratos?!” She could hardly believe her eyes.
A mysterious smile crossed the man's face. “Remember that little trinket Iron Man gave you?”
The reporter's eyes widened as she suddenly realized something. She reached into her pocket, opened her palm, and revealed a golden bracelet.
“This is...”
“A piece of jewelry that can also serve as a portal locator.”
What a surprising twist! But it felt pretty good.
Was this the handiwork of S.H.I.E.L.D., or was it Tony Stark's initiative?
In that moment, many thoughts raced through Lois's mind.
Suddenly, the wall beside them exploded, revealing a handsome figure in blue with a red cape.
Clearly, Superman’s father saw that Lois was safe and had gone to rescue his son.
“You are...” Superman glanced around at the dead Kryptonians on the floor, his expression was quite complex.
Atreus , dressed as Kratos, grinned. “I’m your pen pal, Mr. Kent.”
Superman’s eyes lit up. He had long suspected his "pen pal" to be a superhero involved in the Battle of New York, and now knowing it was Kratos filled his heart with warmth.
“Thank you, Kratos!”
“No need to thank me,” Atreus replied, pointing to the portal. “General Zod’s ship has already descended to Earth. You’d better go back and stop him immediately through the portal.”
“Alright!” Superman, without a doubt, nodded. “What about you?”
“If they want to destroy Earth, don’t blame us hosts for giving them a warm welcome.”
Superman had long conversed with his father, Jor-El, in his dreams. Jor-El hoped his son would become a bridge between the two species.
Sure, seeing Kratos attack his kin felt a bit strange to Superman. On the other hand, he had no love for General Zod, who had killed his father.
If Zod wanted to wipe out humanity, why shouldn’t humans fight back?
Stopping the World Engine was the main priority now. Without hesitation, Superman took Lois through the portal. The next second, they found themselves back at the previous U.S. military base.
“Lois, stay here and wait for me.”
“Okay.”
Superman immediately shot up like a comet, flying toward General Zod's small ship.
Meanwhile, above, on the Kryptonian mothership, someone sneered, “Ladies, how about we take this ship as our new mothership?”
“Good idea!” Auntie and her niece replied in unison.
