Chapter 138: "Shocking! Kryptonians Dive into the Sea!" (Third Update)
Added 2024-09-16 02:17:51 +0000 UTCKratos' bold and powerful statement was like the final starting gun.
Superman immediately launched like a bullet, in a blink, his fist slamming into the face of the oblivious General Zod.
This only enraged the general more. He retaliated with equal force, and every heavy punch from both of them created terrifying sonic booms in the sky.
This was pure destruction!
This was a battle between top-tier superhumans!
"Look at what you've done, Kal-El! We could have rebuilt a new Krypton on this wasteland, but you chose humanity over us. My existence is solely to protect Krypton. That is my life's purpose. Everything I’ve done, no matter how violent or cruel, has been for the good of our people. And you—destroyed all of that!"
General Zod ignored Kratos in the sky, channeling all his rage towards Superman. Using his superior combat experience, he finally landed a solid punch on the Man of Steel.
“Boom!”
The earth-shattering sound was no less than the blast of a 460mm cannon from WWII.
Superman was sent flying nearly a kilometer. He crashed into the sea, tumbling clumsily as he bounced dozens of meters with each roll. Eventually, he slammed into an abandoned warehouse near Gotham's southern port, smashing through the walls, causing the entire metal roof to collapse.
But in the next second, Superman shot out like a spring compressed to its limit.
"Zod! What you're doing is pointless! Not only will I stop you with everything I have, but Earth's other heroes won’t let you go either!" Superman, still holding onto his kindness, was merely trying to drive Zod and his followers away.
Little did he know, Zod and his crew were doomed today.
Both Atreus and the Ancient One had said it.
From the chaotic times of ancient history, how had the Ancient One protected Earth from the gods and vicious aliens?
Why did Asgard only keep a nominal claim over Earth’s dominion, even though they could crush anyone who opposed them?
Because the Ancient One had thrown the heads of notorious aliens onto the interstellar paths of the solar system!
Since the Ancient One had intervened, Zod wasn’t leaving alive.
Letting Superman take out his own kind was more an act of mercy.
And so?
Like a missile, Superman flew low with his iconic double-fist attack, delivering a massive blow to the general's chest.
The result of this "little fist pounding your chest" was that even the general couldn't withstand it, and was sent flying another kilometer by Superman's double punch.
This kind of superhuman brawl was absolutely insane.
Every random move sent someone flying hundreds of meters. Even when Tony and Black Widow arrived, they only dared to stay five kilometers away.
"Hell! Those grunts are nothing compared to General Zod," Tony muttered, exasperated.
If Captain America could barely keep up with the weakest Kryptonian soldier, in front of Zod, he would be dead in seconds.
In fact, the only one who could get within a kilometer of the two Kryptonian powerhouses was Kratos in his war chariot.
As the two Kryptonian titans battled, they fought all the way to the recently destroyed Manhattan.
"Zap!" The furious general unleashed his "Krypton Death Beams" from his eyes.
The ultra-high-temperature beams easily sliced through a massive skyscraper, horizontally cutting it in half.
The top dozen floors of the building, weighing tens of thousands of tons, came crashing down, sending a cloud of dust hundreds of meters high.
Luckily, it was already a ruined area destroyed by the Chitauri, otherwise, if people had been working there, thousands would have perished.
Tony flew near Atreus's carriage, opened his helmet, and tapped the left side, broadcasting Lois Lane's voice. She had apparently reached out to Tony through a remote connection.
Tony made a gesture, and Atreus immediately understood. This was a private channel even Nick Fury couldn't tap into.
She asked nervously, "Kratos, who will win?"
"Superman will."
Seeing Atreus so confident, Lois couldn't help but feel doubtful. "Are you sure?"
"Of course. Superman is just too kind-hearted. His physical strength is about twice that of the general's. Being stronger means he can make countless mistakes…"
Tony grimaced, staying silent.
Why are boxing and martial arts divided by weight classes?
Because their power and ability to take hits aren’t in the same league.
If neither side has a one-hit-kill move, the one who can take more punishment will win.
Hearing this, Lois felt a bit more at ease. "Thank you for letting me know."
"Miss Lane, instead of worrying about this, why don't you start thinking about tomorrow's headline? Maybe something like, 'Chitauri Urgently Meet with Kryptonians to Discuss Earth's Future'?"
"..." Tony and Lois were both speechless.
After a long pause, Lois said, "Kratos, with jokes that cold, you're probably not really from ancient Greece."
Atreus wagged his finger. "Never judge a book by its cover!"
Meanwhile, the two Kryptonian giants were putting on a spectacular fight. Superman gave Zod a massive spinning piledriver, and Zod retaliated with a whip kick, sending Superman crashing into the supporting columns of a 30-story building.
Another building was demolished in the process.
At this moment, Faora-Ul, leading the remaining Kryptonian soldiers, returned from the other side of the Earth, piloting their ship at unbelievable speed.
But as soon as they arrived, they ran into Atreus’s war chariot, and they became part of the tragedy.
The Tragedy of Troy relied on the power of Penthesilea, but as the chariot’s master, Atreus could inject magical energy to enhance its power.
Spectators saw the chariot's speed suddenly skyrocket, and a streak of lightning appeared in the clear sky, revealing the chariot's flight path.
While others may not have noticed, the Ancient One, observing from Kamar-Taj in Nepal, sighed softly: "Oh?"
Because in the elemental domain, the wind around had already boiled like hot soup.
All the elements gathered into a purple point of light. Like a rock smashing through glass, the chariot collided with the beetle-like Kryptonian ship.
The ship's energy shield rippled in defiance, sending a blue wave expanding half a mile wide.
But the shield lasted less than half a second before the chariot pierced through the ship.
The high-speed ship that had troubled the U.S. military so much was now spewing smoke, plummeting into the ocean off the coast of New York.
Seeing this, Lois pressed her lips together. According to Kratos, wasn't this the perfect headline: "Shocking! Kryptonians Dive into the Sea!"
