Chapter 253: Emergency
Added 2024-09-17 14:13:26 +0000 UTC"Good morning, everyone!"
In the morning, at the FBI's New York Field Office in Queens, Agent Bruce Hunter whistled as he walked into the office with breakfast.
After several crackdowns, the criminals in New York had become much more docile, and the city's crime rate had dropped significantly.
The workload at the field office had also decreased noticeably. They could slack off in the office in the morning and still go to bars and nightclubs to handle cases in the afternoon. These days were pretty good.
"Bruce, you look happy. Did something good happen?"
His colleague Jack teased him when he ran into him.
"Haha, the weather is nice today."
Bruce smiled, pursing his lips.
"Bruce, stop hiding it. I saw you shopping with Cheryl from the equipment department yesterday afternoon. Hehe, did Cheryl agree to go on a date with you?"
His colleague Wood swiveled his chair and smiled.
"Cheryl? The hottie who can fight?"
"Whoa, Bruce, you're actually dating Cheryl?"
Colleagues in the office all looked over.
"Hehe, yes, we're dating."
Bruce grinned.
"Bruce, you lucky bastard."
"Bruce, buy us drinks!"
Several single guys in the office shouted jealously.
"No problem, no problem!"
Bruce chuckled.
"Ahem~"
Suddenly, a colleague sitting by the door coughed. Everyone glanced over, and the office boss, Frank Campbell, had arrived.
Everyone quickly returned to their seats. Those eating put away their food, those with their legs on the desk put them down, and everyone sat up straight, pretending to be busy.
Mr. Campbell was the deputy director of the field office and also the head of the Criminal Investigation Department. He was strict, capable, and tough.
After he took charge of the investigation department, he handled many major cases, arrested many people, and even fired several incompetent agents. The work efficiency of the New York field office improved significantly, and the city's public security also improved. Everyone both respected and feared this boss.
"Bruce, this is a homicide case file sent by the police department. They've been investigating for two weeks without any leads. Take it and look into it."
Frank put down a file and said.
"Yes, sir!"
Bruce Hunter immediately took it.
Frank glanced around the office and nodded in satisfaction.
Ring, ring, ring~
Just then, his phone rang. He took it out and glanced at it, a smile appearing on his stern face. He opened the office door and walked in.
"Phew~ the boss's aura is getting stronger and stronger."
"Yeah, when he stood in front of me, I almost couldn't breathe."
People in the office said.
"Hey, did you guys just see that? The boss seemed to smile when he took out his phone."
Jack said.
"I saw it too. His smile was a bit scary, don't you think?"
As they were talking, Wood saw his colleagues lower their heads and sit up straight. He stiffly turned his head and saw the boss walking over.
"There's an emergency. Team one members, grab your gear and follow me."
Frank said as he walked.
"Yes, boss!"
Five agents stood up and followed him to the rooftop. There was a helipad on the rooftop of the field office building.
After getting on the helicopter, Frank explained,
"We just received news that six terrorists appeared on a flight from Boston. They originally planned to hijack the plane, but they were detected by our agents before they could act.
Currently, all the terrorists have been subdued, but the bomb has not been found yet. To prevent accidents, the flight landed early at Poughkeepsie Airport. We're rushing over to take over this matter."
"Yes, boss!"
The team one members responded.
"Boss, all our people are here. Who went to Boston for counter-terrorism?"
The team one leader asked.
"A secret ace."
Frank smiled mysteriously.
"One person?!"
Everyone asked in surprise.
"Yes, one person. He alone captured six terrorists and also found homemade smoke bombs, pepper spray, daggers, and other weapons.
They originally planned to attack after the plane took off, but they revealed their identities during the conversation. They didn't expect our agent to also speak Arabic."
Frank said.
"Wow, so we have a secret ace in our field office."
"One person caught six, the ace made a great contribution."
The agents exclaimed in admiration.
Rumble~
The helicopter took off, hovered in the air for a circle, and flew north. Poughkeepsie Airport was a small airport located in Poughkeepsie, New York City. It would take about half an hour to get there by helicopter.
"Ah, look!"
The helicopter had just flown out of Queens airspace when Agent Jack pointed to the sky above Manhattan and screamed.
Everyone looked over and saw a passenger plane falling from the sky like a matchstick, heading straight for a pillar-like building in the center of Manhattan.
Boom~
In an instant, everyone was stunned. The scene was like watching a movie, no, even more horrifying than a movie.
"Oh, God!"
"Is this real?"
The agents couldn't believe it. From afar, the bustling streets of Manhattan turned into chaos, with black smoke billowing, countless cars stuck on the road, and many people screaming and fleeing for their lives, as if it were the end of the world.
"Boss, didn't our people stop the terrorists? Why did this happen?"
Agent Jack asked blankly.
Frank didn't answer. He was on his phone, silently praying, "Please connect, please connect."
Beep~ It finally connected.
"Frank, have you arrived?"
Richard's voice came from the phone. Frank knew he shouldn't laugh at this time, but he couldn't help but grin.
"Richard, are you okay?"
He asked, his voice trembling.
"I'm fine. Come quickly. The local police are too slow. Only me and a few security guards are on board.
Now the passengers have been evacuated, and the six troublemakers have been tied up, but the bomb hasn't been found yet. I can't leave. Come quickly, I'm not a professional at this."
Richard said.
"Haha, okay, okay, we'll be right there, just wait another twenty minutes."
Frank let out a breath and hung up the phone.
Seeing everyone looking at him, he frowned and said, "If I'm not mistaken, there should be two groups acting together, planning to hijack two passenger planes for a terrorist attack. The first group succeeded, the second group was discovered by Richard, and they failed."
"That's really lucky!"
The people on the helicopter sighed. Seeing the first plane crash into the building, they felt a tightness in their chests that made it hard to breathe. If it happened again, what would the scene be like?
"Boss, if there's a first and second group, could there be a third and fourth?"
Someone said.
Frank frowned. "We can't rule out that possibility." He immediately took out his phone, made a call, and reported the situation in New York to the headquarters in time.
After a while, Frank's phone rang again. He answered and listened for a few words, his face turning ugly.
"Boss, what happened?"
Someone asked.
"Two more planes have lost contact."
Frank said with difficulty.
"How could this happen?"
"What should we do now?"
The agents panicked. Although they were safe in the sky, they still had family and friends in New York. No one wanted to see their loved ones get hurt.
Several agents immediately took out their phones and called their families, telling them to leave New York quickly, as no one knew where the next plane would land.
"Put your phones away!"
Frank frowned. "The other two flights are not flying to New York. You don't need to panic. Besides, after I notified the headquarters, they responded quickly and grounded all flights. Our current task is to apprehend those six terrorists.
The first group is definitely all dead. The six people in the second group are the key figures. We need to apprehend them as soon as possible and get useful information from them. If we can find out their follow-up plans in advance, we can save more people."
"Yes, boss!"
All the agents cheered up. At this moment, they were saving the world.
"Frank, we've arrived at Poughkeepsie Airport!"
"Good!"
Frank looked down. On the simple and empty airport, a large plane was parked. Not far away, on an open field, a person stood up and waved at the helicopter.
"Richard, it's great to see you!"
Frank couldn't help but smile.
"Is that boxing champion Richard?"
"Boss, our ace secret agent is the super boxing champion Richard Braddock?"
Several agents were dumbfounded.
