Unfortunately, just as Kyle drew his revolver, the assailant kicked his wrist, sending the gun flying into the air. In one swift motion, the assailant turned and kicked Kyle in the chest.
Thump!
With a muffled sound, Kyle flew into the room and crashed into the wall.
The immense force made Kyle feel as though he was plastered to the wall. A full second later, he slowly slid down.
At the same time, the hooded figure caught the falling revolver in mid-air.
"Well-maintained."
"But..."
"Not enough trigger pulls."
The hooded figure spoke as he entered the room. He tossed Old Henry's head directly at Kyle, and after it landed precisely in Kyle's arms, he closed and locked the door.
"The night is long, we have plenty of time to play."
The assailant let out a low laugh.
"Cough, cough!"
Kyle leaned against the wall, coughing repeatedly. The young apprentice Secret Keeper looked at Old Henry's head in his arms, his eyes filled with sorrow and anger.
The attacker saw this sorrow and anger.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, mourning for the weak, angry for the weak... Truly a Secret Keeper."
"Unfortunately, such trash--"
"Is not worth it!"
The assailant aimed the revolver at Kyle, speaking with amusement.
"Mr. Henry is not trash!"
"He raised three sons and two daughters with his own hands, and provided them with a good environment to grow up, allowing them to read and learn skills to make a living!"
"He is a true father!"
"Absolutely not trash!"
Kyle said loudly, but as soon as he finished speaking, he coughed again.
One could imagine that the previous kick had caused him serious injury.
This coughing immediately made the attacker burst into laughter.
"What difference does it make?"
"I killed him effortlessly!"
"If I wanted to, I could kill his three sons and two daughters just as easily!"
"Of course, including you!"
"Speaking of which..."
"Are you any different from them?"
"All trash!"
The attacker laughed heartily, then stood up straight and raised the revolver at Kyle, softly saying 'bang'.
Kyle didn't flinch, his eyes showing no fear.
He carefully placed Old Henry's head aside, then supported himself against the wall and slowly stood up.
The attacker didn't stop him, instead whistling.
"I'm not trash, I'm a Secret Keeper."
"Even if..."
"Just an apprentice!"
Kyle said, then suddenly lunged towards the side door.
This door was the innermost one in the room, usually kept closed.
When Kyle's hand grasped the door, it opened directly.
Bang!
The gun fired.
A bullet appeared at the back of Kyle's head, but an invisible force field blocked it.
"Apprentice Secret Keeper's Handbook"!
It could withstand one close-range gunshot!
The bullet ricocheted harmlessly.
Kyle took the opportunity to enter the room and closed the door behind him.
"Damn it!"
The attacker, who had always thought he was in control, immediately cursed and chased after him, kicking open the door and rushing in.
Then, he froze.
The room in front of him was small, with no furniture, not even a single normal household item.
All it had was...
Explosives!
Explosives filled the entire room!
And, these explosives had already been ignited!
Kyle, coughing blood, stood amidst the explosives, looked at the attacker who had chased in, and revealed a smile, saying: "I'm not trash, because I know what a Secret Keeper should do!"
"Even if..."
"Just an apprentice!"
The attacker didn't even listen to what Kyle was saying, and quickly retreated.
Unfortunately, it was too late.
Boom!
In the massive explosion, flames engulfed the attacker and...
Kyle, with a smile on his face.
"As a gentleman, I chose the most improper way to fight, I'm really embarrassed."
The soft murmur was drowned out by the explosion.
In the end, only the soaring flames remained.
The dazzling light could be seen throughout Lustert.
Not to mention the subsequent loud noise.
Goethe, who was riding in a carriage and was about to meet Morey, saw the flames of the explosion first.
"It's the 'Black Sail Security Company'!"
Then, Goethe's pupils shrank.
Because he found that Morey, sitting opposite him, had no expression.
Not just calm.
But also...
Expectation.
Then, this Lustert official in charge of the supernatural closed his eyes and raised his hand.
An invisible airflow gathered in Morey's palm.
Sitting in the carriage, Goethe clearly felt the 'wind'.
Then, this wind blew into the distance.
"Found it!"
Morey opened his eyes and jumped out of the carriage, chasing the 'wind'.
"You go to the 'Black Sail Security Company'!"
Leaving these words behind, Morey disappeared.
Goethe stared coldly in the direction Morey had disappeared.
Morey's expression and actions just now told him one fact -
Kyle was used as bait by him!
Bait to lure the enemy hiding in the dark!
Did Kyle know?
He probably did.
With that guy's admiration for Morey, even if he knew, he would definitely be willing to do it.
"Such a fool."
Goethe took a deep breath, knocked on the partition between the driver and the carriage, and said.
"You go back to the police station and tell Swart to bring people here."
After saying that, Goethe jumped out of the carriage.
He quickly ran towards the 'Black Sail Security Company'.
Soon, the still-burning 22 Sausage Street appeared in Goethe's sight.
The two-story building that should have stood there, with the signs of 'Black Sail Security Company' and 'Old Henry's Deli', had already become ruins. The remaining flames burned the remaining bricks and wood, while more bricks and wood had already fallen, covering the ground layer by layer, like a newly built grave.
Goethe quickened his pace.
But, the next moment, he rolled to the side.
Whoosh!
A pebble grazed past Goethe and hit the ground in front of him.
Crack!
With a crisp sound, the pebble instantly shattered into dust, and a small pit appeared on the ground.
Looking at the pit that could fit an entire index finger, Goethe narrowed his eyes.
There was no doubt that such an attack would break bones and tendons.
If it hit a vital point, it would be a fatal injury.
"You dodged it?"
"I should have shot you."
"But..."
"I'm not used to using guns."
A voice came from behind Goethe. A man in a hooded cloak was sitting by the roadside. When he noticed Goethe looking, he waved his hand.
"Long time no see, Goethe."
"The last time I saw you was at the Garden Club - I accidentally bumped into a guy, and he was furious and wanted to teach me a lesson, then you appeared."
"You apologized for me."
"And bought me a drink."
"This made me remember you vividly, and..."
"I can't wait to kill your whole family."
At first, the words were gentle, but soon, they became sharp and angry. In the end, he stood up from the ground and shouted in an almost roaring voice -
"You, a mere ordinary person, why did you apologize for me? How dare you invite me for a drink?"
