Developed by the Director of The Archive, Spell Scriber is an attempt to improve upon the typical spell imbued swords that rellies on a limited pool of spell and energy to cast magic. Using a reloadable miniaturize spell scroll imbued with simplified spell formula, a replaceable canister of condensed arcane crystal, and an enchanted mechanism that allow the sword to scan and transcribe the spell from to the scroll to the sword with a pull of a trigger, It creates a complex sword that allows its wielder to continuously cast a spell in battle as long as they carry the ammunition and fuel with them. The sword is still under development in order to make it more compact, sturdier, and able to cast higher-level spells. So far, due to the size limitation of the spell scroll, only lower-level spells can be transcribed into the miniaturize spell scroll, some middle-level spells are currently being simplified in order to allow the sword to cast it albeit with reduced effect.

This one is still my absolute favorite. I worked it up for 5E as follows for my home Eberron game (note, dragonshards are a magical material from that setting; you can substitute pixie dust, or mana, or incarnum, or residuum, or whatever): Spell Scriber Weapon (longsword), rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster) This weapon does magical damage. You can charge Spell Scriber with dragonshards and load miniaturized spell scrolls in a 5-chamber magazine. Spell scrolls must be specifically made for Spell Scriber at half the cost given in XGtE page 133; such spell scrolls cannot be used in any other way than to load Spell Scriber. Only spells of up to 3rd level or below can be scribed in this way. The weapon also requires powdered dragonshards to cast spells. The weapon can hold up to 1000 gp worth of dragonshards. Once charged and loaded, pulling the trigger of Spell Scriber casts the spell on the next scroll under the hammer. This can be done as part of an attack action with the weapon. Provided the spell has a casting time of 1 action or less, the spell is then cast during the attack. The casting uses up 100 gp worth of dragonshards per level at which the spell is cast. If the spell cast is not on the wielder's spell list, roll on the Scroll Mishaps table in the DMG.
