Swordtember Day 29 - Ceremony / Ritual

 Integral Ichor

A sacred artifact that belongs to the temple of The Blood Mother. It is used during the trial to become a Blood-Seeker. The candidate would be given the blade-less sword and then locked inside the Red Ruins. They have to fight and survive the onslaught of fiendish creatures called The Hemogoblin that spawn inside the ruin with only the blade-less sword as their only weapon. The sword will absorb and collect every drop of blood from both the wielder and their enemies in order to slowly form its blade which also functions as the key to open the ruin’s gate.

Integral Ichor

Weapon (Shortsword or Longsword), legendary (requires attunement by creature with blood)

This weapon lacks a blade but features a hilt filled with jagged spikes. When you first draw the sword, you take 1d4 piercing damage in order to create the blade from your blood, you can choose for it to be a shortsword or longsword. Additionally, whenever you hit a creature with this weapon, you take 1d4 piercing damage, which is added to the damage dealt to the target. This damage can’t be reduced in any way.

Blood Pool: Integral Ichor absorbs blood from wounds inflicted by you and your enemies. Whenever you take or deal piercing or slashing damage, the Blood Pool gains hit points equal to the damage taken or dealt. The Blood Pool lasts for 1 hour or until you dismiss it as a bonus action. When the effect ends, you regain hit points equal to one-quarter of the Blood Pool's maximum hit points as you absorb the remaining blood. 

As the Blood Pool accumulates, the weapon become stronger according to the table below. the DC for this sword’s feature is 12 + your proficiency bonus.

20 | +1d6 | +1 | Bleeding Strike: When you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force it to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, it gains 1 point of bleeding and takes 1d4 necrotic damage for each point of bleeding that it has at the start of its turn. The creature or its ally can use an action to make a Medicine check to staunch the bleeding.

40 | +1d6 | +1 | Serrated Edge: When you hit a creature with this weapon, its speed is reduced by 5 feet until the end of its next turn. Additionally, the target's speed is reduced by an extra 5 feet for each point of bleeding it has.

60 | +1d6 | +2 | Deadly Reach: Your weapon's reach increases by 5 feet. You can critically hit on a roll of 19-20.

80 | +2d6 | +2 | Blood Siphon: When a creature within 10 feet of you takes necrotic damage from the bleeding effect, you regain hit points equal to half the necrotic damage dealt.

100 | +2d6 | +2 | Blood Puppetry: As a reaction, when a creature within 10 feet of you attacks you or an ally, you can impose disadvantage on the attack roll if the attacker has any points of bleeding. If this causes the attack to miss, you can redirect the attack to another creature within reach, making a new attack roll.

150+ | +3d6 | +3 | Lacerate: When you score a critical hit with this weapon, the target gains 1d4 points of bleeding.
