Swordtember Day 26 - Iridescent

Swaying Shimmers

Weapon (Rapier), uncommon (requires attunement)
The Swaying Shimmer is created to be used in a circus troupe led by a famous illusionist and performer, Epona Archippos. It can magically create beautiful bubbles while it’s swung. When the bubbles are popped, they release a small shockwave and scintillating color around it. It’s used in some of their show ranging from a beautiful sword dance surrounded by mesmerizing floating bubbles to deflecting thrown daggers and darts using the bubbles. When used by an expert, it could also become a quite deadly and tricky weapon.
—--------------------------------
Variant: Twin Sword
When you’re attuned to these two swords, it only counts as one magic item.
Dancing Bubbles. You can use your bonus action to coat the blade with its magical liquid for 1 minute. For the duration, when your attack misses your target, 1 bubble is produced in your current space. If you roll a natural 1 on your attack roll and miss your target, it creates 1d4 bubbles instead. As a bonus action, you can blow one or more bubbles in your space and move them by 5 feet in any direction. The sword magically refills the liquid at dawn, or if you’re proficient with alchemist’s supplies, you can spend 1 hour making the liquid yourself.
Popping Parry. Each time a creature targets another creature with an attack while there’s at least one bubble in their space, roll a d20 to determine whether the attack hits one of the bubbles or not. If you roll 10 or less, the attack hits the bubble causing it to pop and release a small shockwave that reduces the attack roll by 1d6.

I follow the same thought as Zach Williams above me on this in that this being at uncommon level is wonderful. I can see this very easily being tooled up to a higher rarity with barely any tweaks. For instance, having you instead roll for a d4 of bubbles EVERY time you miss could bump this up a raritiy. Giving it more activations per refill or even bumping up the distance you could blow the bubbles could also put it higher than your average uncommon. But leaving this simple and elegant weapon at a rarity you might actually expect performers to get their hands on is more fitting for it's story. Good design overall.

for some reason... it's hard for me to come up with uncommon level items XD I always want to go wild with the effect and end up making it too powerful >__<
