Trial of Ink - Day 23 - Adaptive

Gishadar

Variacoriis foedus
Gishadar is a species of aberrant creature that evolves due to their close proximity to an unstable planar rift that connects their habitat to various elemental planes. When a Gishadar suffers an injury, its body immediately reacts and transforms to protect itself from that type of injury. For example, a Gishadar that is burned by fire will immediately develop skin made of burning embers that not only protects them from the fire but also can be used as a weapon against an enemy. They are social creatures that hunt in large groups. What's more unique is that using their limited telepathic communication, when one Gishadar reacts to a certain injury, it can inform the other Gishadar, triggering their transformations as well.

Slivers from MTG, once again rearing their heads in this design space. A wonderful creature premise that I love, group adaptation. I am definitely having an overly rich merchant trafficking these illegally for an unexpected encounter.

My original intent is to limit their resistance to up to 3. So when other Gishadar gain resistance via the 30 feet proximity, they also use up 1 of their limited use. I'm considering their rather tanky hp and pack hunting tactic. Without this limitation I think they would end up becoming resistant to all possible damage very quickly leaving the player with no option to get pass those resistance. That what i was considering. You can definitely increase the difficulty by increasing the limit.

Sure sure! Though one question, it doesn't spell it out so I'll ask for clarification, is the intent behind its adaptive transformation to have up to 3 resistances? And then if there was a second one they each have up to 6?
