Item - Phantasmagorical Planetaria

As usual, absolutely out of a spontaneous whim, I'm making the 13 Stellar Armaments, starting from the Phantasmagorical Planetaria, the sphere itself. Some might recognize it as featured in the previous swords during Swordtember. Of course, I'll be re-uploading those swords with new stats after this.

I've always loved an item/weapon that grows with the character. Not only is this a growing item, I think you can make an entire adventure or character arc using this item. So I really hope you'll going to like this new set item from me~

Phantasmagorical Planetaria

Artifact (requires attunement)

Phantasmagorical Planetaria is a magical artifact that once belonged to the first champion of Lirianyx, the goddess of the night and the watcher of the sea of stars that filled the gap between realms. Since then, it has been passed down from champion to champion. This artifact serves as a tool that guides its user when traveling under the night sky. It also functions as a vault that stores thirteen Stellar Armaments, various magical armaments belonging to previous champions of Lirianyx.
The current whereabouts of the artifact is unknown, and there has been no sign that the deity has chosen a new champion since the 2nd Chaos Insurgency. Despite this, followers of the goddess believe that somewhere out there, Phantasmagorical Planetaria is guiding a new Stellar Watcher through the dark, starry night.
--------------------------------------------------------------
It's a floating globe with golden rings and ornaments circling it. In its dormant state, it is the size of a regular lantern, but when activated, the sphere and the golden ring in its center expand three times their size. On the sphere's surface, you can see a glimmering sea of stars depicting the entire night sky and all its celestial objects.
When you are attuned to this item, you and anyone touching you gain darkvision to a range of 120 feet. In addition, invisible creatures and objects are visible to you during the night.
Star Seer. You can spend 1 minute focusing on the globe and speak the command word to locate a creature, object, or place you are familiar with or know as long as it is within 3 miles of you and in the same plane of existence. The effect will manifest as a bright star in the night sky above your target that stays until sunrise. To use this ability, you must stand directly under a clear night sky where you can see the stars. Once you use this ability, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
Awaken.
Star Gate. Phantasmagorical Planetaria is a vault and gate allowing users to conjure The 13 Stellar Armaments. Each armament is represented by a hidden constellation on the sphere that acts as a password that one must discover to unlock the armament. As an action, you can summon any number of Stellar Armaments that you have unlocked, and as a bonus action, you can swap one that you’re wearing or carrying with a different one. The number of Stellar Armaments you can have at a time is equal to your level, divided by 3, and rounded down.

Unlocking The 13 Stellar Armaments

DM can decide how players can unlock or discover each magic item they can conjure from the Phantasmagorical Planetaria. Several examples of how a player can obtain or discover constellation regalia include:

Like it? No. I LOVE it. 100% would use this artifact in a campaign. In addition to my chromesthesia synesthesia, it helped to inspire a character who sees it as a visualization of 'The Music of the Spheres' given it's a sound-based trigger and when I was younger, I always thought it was like... The patterning or 'structure' of the world.

Yeeeeah, This was one of my favorite recurring idea's of yours and I'm glad to see it get revisited with stats. Giving GM/DM prompts is always a fun and exciting idea to work with, scattering a few of these throughout an existing adventure sounds like a blast, but I think the idea of leaving a few off the beaten path to quest out for between story points makes it more intriguing over the other options. I think a weapon that gives DMs ideas is just as important as those that give players powers and options.

I'm going to make each of those 13 for the next couple of months. I'm currently making stats for 4th constellation and 7th constellation and some template mechanic that allow them to grow with character level.

Sinlaire

This is almost perfect for my D&D campaign, do you have any plans to define rules for the 13 armaments?

Sebastian Van Den Dungen

thank you~ :D

It's something that I'll be making for the next couple of months XD So far, we have the 4th Constellation (a set of 4 shortswords) and 7th Constellation (a long/greatsword) from the previous Swordtember, but I haven't made the stats for those two, so those two will be given stats soon.

Sinlaire

this is awesome, this matches one of my players really well honest, so question, are the stellar armaments something you are going to be making or just like a home brew writing prompt for the DM?

Jake Bullek

This is quite unreasonably pretty.
