Playing with Diego the Pine Martin

Please note that his bites are incredibly gentle and he is just playing. Though it may look like a vicious assault on my hand 😅

I see this happen with cats at my practice all the time. It's not the "looking vicious" that's a problem, it's conditioning a predatory animal to view human hands as chew toys. Eventually someone is going to get an infected bite or scratch while trying to handle him. If you're lucky it will be a vet or tech who will go get treatment right away. If you aren't lucky it'll be a volunteer who ignores it and loses a hand. I know he's cute but playing with a toy is so much safer.
