v0.6 Progress log 6

Alright, progress log here!

I do want to give a quick apology for not giving a follow up after the previous post. The plan was to let everyone know why there was not going to be a progress log, and then continue working on the game once things were A-ok without posting a follow up post. Not a great plan as some of you were concerned. Anyhow, there's no need to worry about it, it was mostly that it felt like my body and head were trying to kill in various ways for a week straight, it was great. After that, everything was fine and progress began moving steadily again.

So, progress. Let's start with the pool. I won't spoil anything, but for reasons the pool had it's level 4 events completely rewritten to better fit some stuff that happens.  So, new level 4 content for the pool.  Level 5 is roughly 50% done. Again, I won't spoil anything, but level 5 for the pool is a bit special and it has with some really unique things. It's been a very demanding level, but it should be done really soon. There's still a decent amount of work left when it comes to CGs here.

Level 5 events for the Inn have been completely written and translated into dialogue for both, the dusting event, and the event with the new situation I mentioned the previous log. Went overboard with these again, so they ended up being quite lengthy, oopsie daisy. Every new CG, and additions to the existing CGs for these events have been complete. Speaking of the Inn, something I did not mention in the previous log when talking about the Inn was that it has been completely revamped visually and structurally, hadn't mentioned it as it was missing it's textures, but now it's complete. Anyhow, the revamp along with all of the new content added to it in v0.6 make for a very fun experience there.   

Level 4 level up event is done as well.  Completely written from start to finish, another very long event. Ended up at 393 interactions, that should be fun. This event required a lot of unique CGs, and the good news is that they are all done.

Lastly, things are finally moving into the second to last step, which is to import all of the stuff that has been done outside of the engine, into the engine and assembling all of it playable stuff. The main hassle for this step is the sheer amount of sprites needed for this update. There's around 600 sprites that had been done throughout the months and go as far back as December of 2020 which hadn't been brought into the engine. There's a handful of steps each sprite has to go through, naming each file and placing them in the right folder, importing into the engine, compressing, and finally placing them where they belong for then to be playable (events, etc). The other part is the absurd amount of dialogue in this update, importing it into the engine is simple enough, but while doing so the dialogue is polished, and such. This has always been a fairly fast process that took a few days at most, but with this update there's just an absurd amount of dialogue and sprites to go through which are making it take a lot longer.

When it comes to importing the dialogue and sprites, roughly 30% of it has been imported.

When it comes to building it into playable stuff, roughly 20% of it is done. Of which a decent amount of it has gone into building the level 5 events for the PUB, and it's now fully playable. 

I was hoping to wrap up writing everything mid-late July, but a very key detail that I forgot is that July usually ends up being the busiest month for me by far. So for the most part I was only able to develop stuff for about a week in July. The good thing is that it's almost done now, all that's remaining is a couple of events from the new POI, some stuff in the level 5 events at the pool, and I believe levels 3 through 5 of the new post level up events at the Infirmary. 

Anyhow, really excited to finally start putting everything together in engine and having it be playable, as it should be the last big push. I'm hoping to be done with it in about 2 weeks. After that it's just coding routines which is very straightforward. By the way, I'm sure I missed some stuff as I'm writing this in a hurry, apologies for that.
