Part two of her backstory!
Ral’a completed her mission to kill a mindflayer and began serving Vlaakith, but it cost the life of her Varsh, grown attached to. This made her develop an early stage of empathy, and because of that she became a sort of black sheep. While other Gith trained and forgot about their lives in the crèches they grew up in, Ral’a experienced grief. Mourning. She cried, and was strictly told to change her behaviour, that it was strange and would get her in trouble.
Ral’a abandoned her legion on the material plane during a pillage. She found them in a battle with Githzerai, realizing she was fighting her own people. It wasn’t fair and her crew were cruel, so she abandoned her weapons and silver armour, begging an elderly Githzerai monk to take her in. Here she found family, knowledge on what empathy was, and why she was feeling it, and even sisterhood with the older man’s young daughter, just a bit younger than Ral’a.
From there she became a silent observer, observing mindflayers and otherworldly creatures, while training her mind to harness control over the empathy she’s experiencing. She had already retained knowledge of dragons from her time alongside Githyanki knights, but the old man’s tomes taught her everhung she knows. She now swears to be a peace keeper, and only uses her voice when she needs to, out of a fear of attachment to another mortally inclined person.
