Since Ral’a is a Girhyanki by blood, she was raised in the Astral Plane. There’s lots to tell as to why she fled, joining the ranks of the Githzerai and swearing to become a silent weapon to be wielded by honourable folk, but her corset is one of my favourite parts.
When fleeing, and attempting to disguise herself as a Githzerai, Ral’a abandoned her old armor from plundering, and instead opted for her wine-coloured monk garb. However, she held onto her bodice. A silver corset with abstract, Githyanki made art decals: the eyes of slain Mindflayers. When facing a danger which brings her back to her training, she covered the eyes to relieve herself of a sense that they can see her, even now
