2022-12-31 07:41:52 +0000 UTCThe Iroh/Zuko scene is one of my favorite scenes in the show Iroh doesn't yell often but when he does he commands respect because he is so calm and peaceful. He knows how good Zuko is deep down and wants to bring it to the surface but its hard.

2022-12-30 22:03:23 +0000 UTCHonestly I think the fights in ATLA are already choreographed so well, with such impactful sound design, that I don't think adding Invincible-style blood and gore would really add that much to them. That being said, I do think earthbending would be a lot more terrifying. We've already seen Toph and other earthbenders doing things to people that make Long Feng's attack on Jet look tame by comparison.

2022-12-30 19:19:36 +0000 UTCHonestly, even after loving "kids' shows" that go darker than ATLA, I definitely still agree with that choice from Nickelodeon. Plus, I think a lot of kids (even in the older demographic of the time) wouldn't fully understand the concept of a mercy kill.

It doesn't hold their hands and say "I'll tell you when you've gotten older." It uses those themes that you'd see in more adult or YA stories and tells a good story with them. I'm looking forward to the rest of Book 2, and then starting in on Book 3.
