An epub version of the chapter is also linked below, as always!
And we are back once more, dear readers! Once more into the wonderland of Maisie's mind (and let us pray that she never kicks us out. Unless ... ?) Ahem. Anyway! Things are getting spicier now, with new directions opening up. I think we're probably halfway through the arc? Though it's hard to tell, since arcs are structured very differently to in Book One - much longer, more like small novels, and we will be riding this one all the way to Maisie's conclusion. Though I hope Maisie herself doesn't, uh, 'conclude'? That would be rather bad for everyone involved. Especially Maisie.
And! Before you go off to enjoy this week's chapter (as I dearly hope you do), I have some art to share with you all, from over on the discord!
First up we have the second installment of the Katalepsis-themed tarot cards, (by XII), this one titled The Magician, full of pixel-art gore. Second we have this very amusing little piece of Heather reacting to one of her favourite things the whole world, (by Clericalism); please be aware that one is technically NSFW! Though you can't really see details. And then lastly we have this incredible illustration of one of the final moments of arc 24 back in Book One, simply titled 'Bedlam Boundary'; this one is incredible to me, it's amazing to see that moment brought to life. And thank you all! I know I say this every time I share art, but it's still flattering and incredible to me, to see my storytelling inspiring others. Thank you so much!

Maisie does seem disarming, yes! You look at her and you see "just a girl", unless you look beneath the surface. I'm really glad the feeling of the darkness is so clear, it's something I was striving to capture. Thank you! Truth is a difficult thing for Maisie. She has a complex relationship with it. (Beastie Boys?! Haha, not an intentional reference, no! But that is now very funny.) Maisie's reality is best expressed via points and edges, that's an interesting way of looking at her. Mmhmm! There's some big themes going on here about narrative parallels, repetition, and the structures imposed on our characters. Well spotted! Maisie ... she is kinda slutty, right? She can't help herself, constantly going after different girls. Always barking up the wrong trees. Tenny noises are wonderful! I often try to make them while writing her dialogue, it's fun. And Kimberly, she really does deserve more success! (And thank you! Really glad you enjoyed this chapter!)

2025-07-13 16:39:29 +0000 UTCMaise's veneer (literal) of humanity must make her so disarming to those she meets. (Not a girl. Not anymore) The darkness feels so *alive*. I want to swim in it, dancing between nothing and infinity... Truth is a false dichotomy. Everything is right and everything is wrong if you wring reality hard enough ...was that a beastie boys reference? Maise: "I reject your reality, and substitute my own! (In the form of a very sharp point)" Parrallels in series, stories that rhyme and repeat, but never the same. Searching for sisters, sortieing Outside Maise! Again with the sluttiness! At this point we should get a spray bottle for the next time We want to be able to make Tenny's noises. They sound so delightful Bloode mages and blood magic. Starspeed, Kimberly, may your endeavours succeed.

2025-07-13 02:00:43 +0000 UTCI know, right?! I didn't even plan for her to do that, she just ... inserted it all by herself. She's such a little freak and I love her for it.
