Nude Yoga Part 2
Added 2019-11-08 15:05:31 +0000 UTCSecond dose of yoga, with the added challenge for you to try these stretches and share your experience!
It was interesting feeling into the response yesterday when @nic commented that I lacked core strength. I immediately felt vulnerable. Actually this is one of the more vulnerable posts to share as I am sharing aneven more personal view of my body. Sharing my anger or my CPTSD flashback moments, is also my most vulnerable content. It's interesting to me to observe what happens in my body when my body is criticised, and how quickly I can feel defensive towards these comments...immediately justifying why...and then I reflect...why do I need to defend?
Maybe because when I was 16 I was known as body conditioning queen! It was my identity at the Royal Ballet School. I used to do tonnes of situps everyday. Whereas now, I feel proud that my body stays in decent enough shape without me doing much to it. I'm happy as a woman not to have a sharp six pack, and to have normal curves of a woman, rather than the straight lines of a girl. After spending most of my life training, it's also been nice to enjoy being "normal".
Maybe it's because I enjoyed my identity as super strong, as being an athlete, and for all those years of hard work not to be visible, feels like "hey! you don't know me,,,,,you don't know how strong I am!..."
Isn't it interesting how triggered we feel by others comments?
I am learning to breathe and give space to people's comments. I can take it, not take it in, as i please. If I am triggered because i want that identity, I can also change my habits...but only with the awareness that I am concerned what others think of me. With time I believe i will just not be concerned with anything other than what I think and feel about myself. Maybe
