Copying opens your eyes to new possibilities, and new techniques… but trying to fob it off as your own is quite another matter. You can try copying with the intention to learn, to create something new, and to honor and play.
But sometimes, a person copies with the intention of taking advantage of another artist. Or the intention of skipping the hard work of creating their own original art and passing someone else’s art as their own.
That is NOT what we are trying to do here. If you find a good piece and want to use it, get ideas from it. Don’t save, copy, trace, and post the artwork. Instead, use it as a guide or pattern to create your own. Otherwise your piece will just end being plagiarism.
Copying poses works best from photographs/screenshots from series, but you can also try from another Art pieces, because a pose belongs to no one.
DO NOT COPY:
-Composition (you can try recreating the atmosphere instead)
-Color Scheme (pick up your own palette don't be lazy)
-Stroke/brushes (most of the time an artist defines themselves by their favorite brush)
-Characters (That IS stealing! use your own, unless you have permission)
-Backgrounds (you can use my own for free, but other artist wont be so polite as to give you permission to use their art, please consider making your own)
These tips is for pose only and at the end you are the one making the final polishing and strokes, using a reference always works wonders for anatomy!
HAve fun!
