The Adventures of Pinocchio Review

Comments

29:45 meanwhile Pinocchio a true story is looking at this scene and thinking oh yeah I can top this

Jack Sullivan

Lol, too bad then that she no longer reviews porn movies. I'd love to see her review something like the Black Devil Doll with that in mind (either the one Cinema Snob did or the 2007 pseudo-remake) ^^

Grey 'Greycat' Silvermane

Pinocchio. I guess alien conqueror is easier to handle than demon spawn? lol

Makes me curious, who Raven thinks has creepier eyes - Pinocchio or the guy from her old review of "Taboo" ?

Grey 'Greycat' Silvermane

Guess the moviemakers did not understand WHY woodpeckers knock on wood? It's to get the worms inside... they would not attack a moving wooden doll any more they would attack a wooden carriage, or a house.

Pepe? So this is where that green trollface originated? And I agree with Raven, not a fan of two random humans acting like they were a cat and a fox, it just comes off as creepy. Why did they not make them puppets too, given that they had Henson on team?

BB Shockwave

Indeed, the original book has quite a lot of good morals and horrific consequences, the disney movie wishy-washes those away (in the book, Pinocchio actually kills the cricket with a shoe and his ghost haunts him!)

I am with Raven. This horrific abomination creeped me out and I was an adult when this came out!!! And I even LIKE Scarface and Wesker, LOL. The puppet in this is just creepy. I never knew Henson was behind it, I assumed the puppet was CGI when it stretched its wooden skin. That said, you should review Pinocchio's revenge, looks hilarious.

BB Shockwave

Tell me I wasn’t the only one terrified by that donkey transformation sequence.

Sorry, the Question will be posted with the video when it's released on YouTube tomorrow, so keep you eyes peeled for it THERE. :)

I don't see the Review Question. This adaptation was pretty 'realistic' so to speak, but I never liked it. I don't think I've ever been a fan of any adaptation. The Disney version was terrifying and the Beninigni version was a little too off the rails. I do like that you pointed out the enhancements to the narrative and how they improve the story feeling more fleshed out and the characters, like Gipetto, having better motivations and links to their actions. Raven, I will point out that maybe you caught on subconsciously to the original story. In the story, he was a murderer and completely chaotic (actually a lot like the reboot of Child's Play). This does make me want to rewatch this with a new perspective now! Great job to all of you!

Oh boy oh boy! The nightmare fuel that is this Pinocchio adaption! I have to admit, the ending you did made me get a little teary eyed. Did I mention I love you so much?

Grace Starkes

I knew this one would end up winning. I guess it's true what they say: When you wish upon a star your dreams come true.
