It's crazy 2021 has come to an end, it really seems like time is just flying by.
This last two years has been so crazy, I don't think anyone would've guessed the pandemic would lasted this long and is still going with no clear end in sight😞 I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy, and are making the most of what we have. ❤️
I have grown so much in this past year as a person and as a Modder. I've learned so much and met so many amazing people in the sims4 community, Im thankful for each and every one of you who has helped me to become who I am today. 🥰 Without your support I would never have the courage to quit my job and pursue what truly makes me happy.
I have been continuing to work on the child birth mod for the last two weeks.👼👼🏻👼🏼👼🏽👼🏾👼🏿 I created a draft animation which you can see in the images above. Draft animation is animation that captures the overall movement but still needs to be worked on further to add things like details and facial expressions.
this animation is of course for natural birth, the goal right now is to finish natural birth then add the option for c section so that you can choose which one to go for. If everything goes well I want to make it so that sims can give birth at home, or do water birth as well.
I read all of your comments and suggestions in my last Weekly update, so thank you all who commented! I am taking all your good suggestions into consideration.♥️
For natural birth I definitely want the pregnant sim to be in the hospital for longer than it does right now. Ideally the sim will arrive at the hospital and go into Early labor, which will last anywhere from a few hours to days. During this process I want to make it so that doctors will check on the sim periodically and check for dilation. sims can do things such as sitting on a yoga ball to help speed up the process, 💬if you have any suggestions on what else they can do to help induce labour please leave a comment! Once they are in active labour they will lay on the bed at which point the draft animation I made will come into play. I know she is wearing bathing suit in the image I posted , but I will be creating a new hospital gown so that the lower half of the sim is exposed during labor.(also I apologize for the image quality, I'm currently modding on a potato 🥔since Im visiting my parents for the holidays)
the doctor 🧑⚕️ will stand near the end of the bed and help with the delivery, and any accompanying sim will stand next to the bed and hold the pregnant sim to encourage them. and yes there will be a baby coming out of your sim during birth 👀, but it will be blurred out by default, if you want the extra realism you can remove the blur with cheats. After the baby is born I want the birthing sim to be able to do skin to skin contact, and once that is done the baby will have to go into the bassinet to live their life as an object 😐.
The major challenge I have right now is finding a way to make sure the baby comes out of your sim with the right skin colour during labour and skin to skin, once its in the bassinet it will absolutely be the right colour. It is still a myth to me how the game knows what color the baby is supposed to be. I will spend some time to investigate it when I get there, if I really cannot figure it out the backup plan would be using the same baby for all sims which would be kind of lame 😕 but I will be trying my best to avoid that.

2022-01-07 02:39:54 +0000 UTCAmazing job ! Other ways to speed dilatation and labor based on my own experience : walking, bathing, showering... and drugs. Would you try to include c-section and/or induced labor too ? I think induced could be great. Well the baby skin color is still a mystery to my game too since they all come out black somehow. I gave up trying to fix that bug, I just wait for them to be toddler and have their real skin color.

Similar to how EA does it. (Shoes for movement, blocks for thinking, etc) :D Huge thanks for improving my game so much.

And maybe Dad or significant other could coo at the baby while mom is "cleaned up". This is going to be a mod for the record books for sure! :)

2022-01-01 05:48:10 +0000 UTCI was reading this out loud to my spouse and he came up with an idea for when the baby is coming out of the sim and for the skin to skin before it becomes an object and is then whatever color the baby is supposed to be generated as by the game. He suggested that you could possibly cover the baby in all of that natural birthing goo LOL... blood and what not. It may seem gross for some, but if you're going for realism and trying to do something about the fact that it may not be the right skin tone, it could work.

The yoga ball thing is a must in my opinion and if I may add maybe offer some other options to help the labor process such as the option to take a hot shower & the ability to take pain relief drugs. In anycase, can’t wait to see the final mod! I’m sure it’s gonna be amazing!

2022-01-01 02:00:51 +0000 UTCHaving had babies, c section and vaginal I second the pain relief comment above, different intensity and length of time. In early labour, walking around, and yoga ball to speed things up, also resting too, reading a magazine or doing a wordsearch between contractions, some might text, use social media, play games on their phone etc. Sleep if adequate pain relief lol! Eat if possible (or sometimes be sick!) If in early stages and it's a long one. During a contraction when walking bending slightly whilst leaning on a wall and having birthing partner rub my back helped. Squeezing partners hand, my aunt bit her husbands hand quite badly lol! During end stage of labour, a lot of women say funny things such as pleading with their partners to take over, begging to go home, they'll come back tomorrow, or shouting simply get this 'thing' out of me! Hahaha! There's a bit there, obviously way too much for a sim to go through but some ideas. Good luck with this, and thank you! Happy new year to you xx

Maybe perhaps having "pain relief" on offer could be an idea but im not a modder so i wouldnt know if that could be implemented. However loving your ideas so far! Thanks
