The 761st Black Panthers were mentioned in an episode of "Archer," during one of the "coma seasons" that took place in the late 40s.

2023-12-27 01:24:46 +0000 UTCTook me a bit to catch up on this episode, but it got me thinking if doing a future episode on the desegregation of the US military might be a good idea. There's some pretty interesting early champions of desegregation (though mostly just guys who wanted America's imperialism in the early 20th century to work a lot smoother), such as James Kelly Parsons who went from the grand kid of a Confederate States governor to drafting some of the first proposals for a desegregated army. He was motivated by the fact he had served alongside black soldiers in the Spanish-American War, and later Filipinos and native Hawaiians in the counterinsurgency in the philippines, which convinced him that non-white soldiers could serve as combatants alongside whites. As I said, driven pretty much by wanting the US army to do US army stuff better, not by genuine anti-racism, similar to Leslie McNair mentioned in this episode. As a bonus, Parsons was also a very early, very weird theoretician of tank warfare, which might intrigue Joe. Either way, great episode, have a merry christmas and keep up the good work lads!
