Suzume Movie Reaction ✨

Grab your drink and snack...it's Suzume time!

I thought this movie was beautiful and elicited many great emotions within me....thank you for voting for this one! I quite enjoyed this one :D

I thought Souta running as a chair was the most hilarious thing 😭 but overall the visuals in this movie were gorgeous!! I loved exploring around Japan and seeing all these tucked away cities we don't always commonly get to see at such a great scale in other anime.

Ngl it made me crave McDonalds when I got to that scene in the movie... didn't expect THAT at all πŸ˜‚ the side characters in this movie were refreshing and a friendly delight.

I think my two favourite moments were 1) between Suzume and her Aunt, both at the rest stop during their argument and then afterwards on the bike together and 2) Suzume talking to her younger self...Both carried such emotional intensity!

SOME THOUGHTS/ROOM FOR CLARIFICATION:

For a 2-hour movie, some parts felt rushed and left out moments for further explanation leaving a lot of room for interpretation by the viewer. For example, I thought Daijin was to be "bad" but that turned out way differently than I initially anticipated. I was confused why it was so reluctant to return as a keystone and why it wanted to pass on that role. From what we saw, it was causing them a ton of trouble opening the gates, when really it was doing the opposite for Suzume? that remained a bit unclear to me, and I wish we got to explore into Daijin's character more. Same with Sadaijin, especially with its introduction in the movie and it also leaving its post? Unless it left to get Daijin...

It was interesting to learn afterwards about the significance of the earthquakes and tsunami in the area and its role in this movie πŸ₯Ί I didn't know those occurred until looking into the movie afterwards

Overall, a visually stunning movie that combines both hilarity with heartache. It evokes positivity, honesty and the joys of love while also making you feel frustrated at the same time.

Comments

I agree with some of the thoughts you had, specifically about it feeling a bit rushed but since I watched this in theaters with friends the visual aspects and overall enjoyment of sharing this with people pushed away any bad feelings which allowed me to just enjoy the other parts of the movie more
