Episode 2 so soon? Thank you! Just for info: English and American cats say 'miaow'; Japanese cats say 'nyan'; Chinese cats say 'mao'. The lead character's name is Maomao (miaow-miaow) so that's why she often has cat ears (sometimes other feline characteristics) when she's drawn as a chibi. Jinshi saying he should probably seduce her a little was just his idea to keep her loyal or to make sure she behaves herself. If she's eager to please him she will behave well. It seems to work so well on all the other female workers but Maomao has the opposite reaction. I think Jinshi was just intrigued by her reaction and found it refreshing. I don't think he's particularly into being treated with disdain, like a masochist, but just pleased to find someone who can surprise him. When everybody looks at you and swoons, and will do anything you want them to... life becomes too easy and predictable, and ultimately boring. Sadly, I'm sure it's a curse you and I know all too well, Kris ;)

For the kidnappers: Slavery has been banned recently but there is a mechanism where a fimily can "sell/rent" their child (essentialy daughters i think) to nobles / palace where they become servants and maybe found a husband that way. The family received a part of the salary. but kidnappers can do the same wich is what happened to Maomao
