Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku

This anime was honestly brilliant. While being almost 10 years old, it didn't lose its sense of humour or charm. It's the perfect anime if you appreciate some good grown-up humour, and made for those who enjoy an in-office workplace setting, various trips to the bookstore for new manga and frequent chats about anime (yaoi in general) and cosplaying. The 11 episodes flew by WAY too quickly (At least it comes with 3 OVAs to enjoy!). I honestly loved this one so much, it had me giggling to myself which is always a good sign you're enjoying the content.

Another

This one was a WHIRLWIND of info dumping, trauma and crazy deaths that had me going "HUH" the entire time LOL. It does get dialogue heavy, but that's granted given the context of this anime. It's a wonderful mystery that unfolds inch by inch each episode, so if you're into slow burns, this one is for you. The mystery component is what kept me on the edge and eager to keep watching, but at times I struggled to keep a positive attitude when it felt like you were pulling teeth to get an ounce of information. The finale does NOT disappoint, and gives you all the information you've been waiting for PLUS all the action you didn't anticipate getting. If you enjoy anime you can't predict what comes next, then this one is a much watch. It's a great choice come Fall and something to watch around Halloween time. EDIT: I forgot to add that sometimes it felt silly how after a death they would go back to school the next day and everything seemed fine? plus the actual ending itself left it on a weird ominous note...like will it happen again??? the ending kinda bombards you with all the answers you'd been wondering so the pace itself feels faster than the rest of the anime.

Yakuza Fiance

This was so different from what I'm used to, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved the instant character shift in our main characters from episode 1 and how it set the precedent for what's to come. You DON'T mess with Yoshino, that's for sure! This one was fun but also knew how to get down and dirty so it had quite the switch per episode. It's more mature of an anime, and sheds quite the light on the yakuza lifestyle throughout the 12 episodes which always intrigued me. It had those serious flares and was more dialogue heavy when explaining the situation at hand, but it never got boring once. You also easily fall in love with the character designs in this one, because all of them are either beyond gorgeous or crazy good-looking. As for animation, it's more stiff? and not as fluid as other anime but it didn't stop you from watching or enjoying this one.

Tokyo Ghoul

FINALLY got to watch S1 of this one and I had such a great time doing so. It was so fun and had a great mix of blood, gore and action. I lovedddd the ghoul designs and everyone's use of their kagune. The music and setting for this anime set up the perfect amount of hype while watching, plus I loved that almost eerie feel to the area. I'm unsure if I'll get to S2 just yet, but I'm not against continuing to watch the anime! This one felt like watching a mainstream anime, so I had high expectations I think for this one and was pleasantly surprised by what they delivered (as you can see from my reactions).

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

SUCHHH A GORGEOUS ANIME. Everything about this anime was spectacular, from the character design to the settings, plus everything in-between such as the music, the storyline, the character backgrounds and purpose of it all. This anime knows how to make you cry then immediately make you laugh. It was the perfect balance of seriousness and humour. There were so many subtle clues throughout this anime with plenty of foreshadowing and references made. There's truly so much to take in while watching this anime that it deserves to be watched a second time. Whenever it went into a character's background it moved you, and whenever they spoke about Frieren's development in learning about humans, it uplifted you - or put a smile on your face. Seeing Frieren's flashbacks and her ability to adapt to current situations by putting those experiences forward always made you feel so happy. Everyone in this first season grew so beautifully, and I can't wait to see what S2 has in store for us!

DAN DA DAN

What an incredible first season! This one is perfect for my ADHD brain because it was just non-stop action. Sometimes I didn't know when to interject and speak because something new was happening 0.5 seconds later. SO much happens in this first season. It's crazy to think about how different things were in the beginning compared to the ending. Our main characters grew stronger, learned more about themselves, learned how to work together and fight some complex emotions. The energy is contagious and usually left you wanting more immediately after. The references made throughout were also fun to learn about. The character designs were great, the animation was incredible and the pacing was perfect. Their use of colourful visuals was also outstanding and so eye-catching. Can't wait for season 2!!

Demon Lord 2099

I still need to watch the finale, but so far I've liked this anime. It's very different from anything I've seen so it piques my curiosity each episode. I've watched stuff similar to this trope of anime, where there's the demon lord and the hero and multiple timelines within where they reunite again in the future under different circumstances...Though, adding the live-streaming component was different and made me laugh as someone who also livestreams, so it felt relatable for once. I wouldn't say it's been my favourite anime, but their choice of music and cyberpunk setting plus gamer humour adds a fresh mix to an anime I wouldn't care too much about, and made it enjoyable.

I'd be interested to read their versions of the finale to compare. I get what you mean in a way about it feeling rushed though, especially after the anime dragged out the answers painstakingly slow until the finale. Though I felt like the finale still left you wondering right up until the end making it hard to figure out who it really was, which I likeddddd but yeah it did all happen so fast nearing the end. The actual ending to it all felt a little funny, which I forgot to add. They just carried on and left it on a ya it's done and hopefully doesn't happen again kinda ordeal LOL

I have to disagree about Another. It was great when it followed the manga, but the finale felt... rushed? I honestly think the LN and manga handled the ending much better than the show. Still a good show, but not one of my favorites in 2024. (It was back in 2013)

Damn, you're knocking down anime left and right!
