The question at 14:00 I've thought about that. I have a distrust of the new concubine so my paranoia guides my thoughts on this lol. It was said in a previous episode that the Emporer gets "confused" when he visits her because she keeps changing her style of dress and makeup, I think it said because she's interested in the latest fashion. The Emporer apparently has trouble recognising her. I think she's a spy or some sort of trouble-maker, saboteur, etc. If this was set in Japan I'd say, kunoichi, so whatever the Chinese equivalent would be. I wonder if the new lady is running around doing her espionage while one of her many ladies-in-waiting takes her place in public. Maybe the Emporer gets confused because it isn't actually the same person he's visiting each time. It has been said that he doesn't share a bed with her so it could be possible to pull that off. I don't think we've heard her speak yet, have we? That also seems suspicious. Although the new lady has been introduced on the show before, this is the first time they've made a big show of her. The garden party was really her big presentation to the wider court, it looks like to me. I find it interesting that they have this in the same episode we have Maomao using subterfuge to pass off white roses as roses of other colours. We also have the reveal of how Lakan sees other people. The father of the new lady has known the Emporer for a while, right? Maybe he knows the Emporer can't distinguish faces very well, or has some problem like that - maybe just poor eyesight? I don't know - something they would keep quiet because they think it's a sign of weakness that could be exploited. It's all a stretch fuelled by paranoia right now so I take it with a pinch of salt and keep it on a back burner so I can jump up and claim, "I knew it!" if anything even close ever comes up in the show lol I do find her and her father very suspicious, though.

Xiaolan is from the countryside so bugs don't scare her, the eunuchs are probably city boys who've never seen a bug before. 12:00 As said earlier two times Lady Gyokuyou's food was poisoned and a poison needle found in her clothes the last time she was pregnant. 14:00 Good question, why did they do that? 20:00 Lakan was hoping Jinshi would fail and lose "face" but Jinshi pulled it off with Maomao's help.
